It is real. One time I was vibrating intensely on a high dose of acid and holding onto my self-healed quartz, I would touch my cat and it would pick up my vibrations. It is as though it was being electricuted, I would hold on to it and its whole body would jolt and lock up as if it had been shocked by lightening. And this wasn't just a hallucination, there were outside observers who weren't drug induced. It was a baby kitten, and obviously very sensitive and receptive to the human electromagnetic field.

what bugs me is that the guy was guilt tripped by his dead teacher for showing off his skills... this is something the whole world should see and experience, there are more people like him around for sure.

This is interesting, but without source references it is just entertainment. However, I did enjoy it.

A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Unfortunately it's not real. This man manages to discredit qigong, martial arts, and traditional Chinese medicine with these parlor tricks. What he represents is not what these arts are about.
In my experience with high-level practitioners of these arts, though they have skills honed to levels unimaginable by "reasonable" people, no magic is involved. No lightning bolts, no flying, never even a no-touch throw.
My advice is to get over all this hocus pocus, find a method, something real, and practice. You can't take other people's credentials as your own.

Do it for Randi and win a million dollars. But will you? No. It will always remain a story.

One famous chi master knocked over people from all over the world without a touch. Then a skeptic showed up and... nothing.
What did the Master say? "The skeptic must have crossed his toes and blocked the chi."

Of course not, but I know for a fact it's not going to happen in that kind of setting. Trying such a thing would likely result in a bad trip and lack of connection (being a key word). And that was a one time thing, which happened when I was doing major binging on psychedelics and deeply into the zone.
I thought it was just a hallucination at first, but my sober brothers confirmed it wasn't.

The only creature fearsome enough to be able to go mano a mano with the cat overlord is the giant devil toad.

Not sure what "that kind of setting is", but for every paranormal claim there is a matching excuse as to why it can only be performed in front of a small group of friends.
Any amazing thing that I can do, I can do in front of skeptical strangers.

With friends I feel more connected to myself than with strangers. When I'm on acid around strangers there is a definite lack of connection, which is needed to enter a state of such buzzing vibration.
