Well I guess the answer depends on the lens you look through.

A neurologist might say that EVERYTHING is only the firing of neurons, and our gray matter in our heads is the sole(soul) and only cause of everythng you hold dear or not-dear. Once we decay, done deal. Dust in the wind.

A quantum physicist might be on the same page of a dreamer: Everything is infinite, and all possibilities are valid; although maybe not perceptible.

A Taoist might say you are already experiencing infinity, and YOU ARE the ONE conciousness.

What would I say? Well I'd say all of the above. Nothing lasting is everlasting, therefore I'll hop in the middle like a hamburger!

You forgot the schizo's interpretation...
Which would be the cheese.
Then you got yourself a cheeseburger, yum.

brain integrates many signals in a particular way and can recall patterns that have been integrated. it does so at a steady stream (stream of consciousness).
Kind of like a sink with one faucet and one drain.

Mind at large involves many brains (so it is a bit like holography at that level) and many signals which makes it like a sink with multiple drains and faucets in a plumbing analogy.

we are all dancing in signals in the holographic tub of the mind at large sink.
