Anybody ever make a Dreamachine? If so, how well did it work?

I want to make one now. I have a turntable to use, I just need to get the metal cylinder.

No, and I've never seen that before...
But, I've always wanted to get one of those children's toys that was a nightlight that had cut outs like that and it would spin when you turned it on... same concept. Would be a fun trip toy.
I bought my friends a baby shower gift that was a twilight turtle. http://www.musicforlittlepeople.com/google/Twilight_Turtle/?gclid=CKf67quL0pECFRcfsgodVTkdbw
I wanted to buy an extra to keep for myself, hah.
If I had a record player/turn table to use, I'd make a dream machine...

I found the online one here:
http://www.netliberty.net/dreamachine.html
Also I found plans to make a dreammachine on this website:
http://www.permuted.org.uk/dmplan.htm
There are plans for both 45 rpm and 78 rpm turntables. You don't need a metal cylinder either, just a large piece of card to cut up. Looks fairly easy to make, I will probably try it out when I get the chance.

That website version of a dream machine seems more like an epileptic seizure inducer! Even though I'm not photosensitive, I stay away from those RGB flashers on websites. Who knows, maybe they can induce seizures in non-photosensitive people...

the online one didn't do anything to me, how long are you supposed to stare at it for?

Ive made one. It doesnt work that well, but it looks damn cool. If you want a more powerful effect, get a strobe light. Then put a clean piece of white paper in front of it. This will help defuse the light. Then turn it on to its highest setting. Most strobe lights on their fastest setting go only as fast as the lowest necessary flash speed. But this generally works much better than a dreamachine, in my experience. Dont expect trip like visions. But it can be very strange.
But here is my normal dreamachine:

so you just close your eyes and relax and the dream machine makes you "see" colors and shapes?

I made one. It never worked for me. I never saw anything more than some crazy colors. My friend on the other hand said he got some real effects from it although he couldn't really explain what they were. I've heard that you have to practice with it to get better at entering the dream trance. I'm sure that looking at it tripping would be wild for sure, much more soothing than a strobe would be.

That neave.com shit is pretty damn impressive!
Thanks, fushock.
Can't wait to view that while tripping to see how much it's intensified, but it's great straight/high. Tehe.
