DXM flashbacks?

About 4 years ago, I tried DXM after hearing about its "psychedelic" effects from some online sources. Had a HORRIBLE experience; thought I was going to die; felt as if my soul was doomed to linger in some god-forsaken geiger-esque hell realm for all eternity. Anyway, from time to time, those cold, wicked feelings of impending doom come back full force, terrorizing the shit out of me, usually right before bed. Sometimes Ill awake in the middle of the night with a rapid heart beat, feeling as if Im swirling into that evil abyss once more. I hate it. I tried that nasty, synthetic shit one time and it has opened a door that seemingly cant be shut. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with DXM, or any drug for that matter?

I get DXM flashbacks only when I consume a good amount of alcohol. I believe this is because the alcohol gives me what I describe as a dissociated feeling. I think that its weird that you experience flashbacks while sober. The human mind is a complicated thing to understand. I use to get shroom flashbacks every time I smoked weed after having a bad trip. I got over the flashbacks by facing my fear and eating shrooms again. I love shrooms now and I never get flashbacks when I smoke weed any more. If time does not rid of your DXM flashbacks, then the only advice I can give is to overcome your fear of the DXM experience by taking it again at a much lower dose. I know that sounds crazy but it cured me of my shroom flashbacks.

Ahh - the DXM comes knocking at your door. I know what you're talking about. I'll tell you my story regarding dxm. I took it for the first time on December 26, 2006. Since then up until a week and half ago I've taken it repeatedly. At the early stages of using it, I felt what you're describing - I thought that dxm was evil, my soul felt drained and cold, etc etc. Also I had dxm flashes where I'd start feeling "weird" once I got into bed or if I was chilling with my tripping buddy. I continued doing dxm and it has taken me through several stages of something that I don't really know how to explain. After over a year of coming back to it I'm finally at rest. I feel that I've experienced all it has to offer and um... my heart hurts... heh
Allright so you can either do two things: You can try to ignore these feelings and hope they go away, or you can go in there again and find out what it wants to show you. With my experience, I that it wouldn't let me go until it showed me everything and until I learned how to completely control the trip. Maybe that's what it wants? Maybe it wants to show you something? Sorry if this advice sounds stupid, but it's just I've gone through the same feelings (so many times) and this is the best I can offer.
Good luck my friend.

I really doubt your having DXM flashbacks. Sounds like you could have anxiety though.

Naw Moo, trust me - I know exactly what he's talking about - it might just be some people - but they do exist my friend. For example, you'd be sitting there on the bench and then wham! This weird magnetic wave would roll over your mind and you wouldn't be able to think anymore - you'd feel the warmness of the dxm trip and other sensations
**edit - as i've said now they have stopped and the only reason I have for explaining this is that dxm finally let me go after it showed me all it had to (and it had a lot of stuff to show). I sense that a lot of people can't access the deeper nature of dxm, but it's very peculiar and selective - mr. dxm its a mysterious one**

Well thats really something. Would you say that these "flashbacks" have the same effects as if you had actually consumed DXM?

Its actually kind of hard to explain. It doesnt exactly feel as if I consumed DXM, but more like DXM opened me up to some strange new sensations, and those sensations come back on occasion when the setting is right. When I was under its influence, it felt as if I entered some cold, dark parallel universe where I existed alone. Although my surroundings remained intact, I felt completely separated and detached, as if I were an intruder or alien in my own room. Just utter loneliness and fear. When these "flashbacks" occur, these are the sensations that come back, I start feeling as if Im merging with that realm again, my heart starts racing and I get tingling sensations all over my body, especially in my head. It takes alot of meditating for me to pull myself together when this happens. Maybe its like you said blavampire, the DXM could be knocking on my door, wanting me to enter its realm again for whatever reason. I have entered many different realms on psychedelics, but DXM is the first synthetic. Also the most frightening.

This is an interesting thread on dxm. I just recently had a crazy experience with a flashback similar to your symptoms. During the trip I was alone and unable to connect with anything. I later found out that During the trip I tried to kill myself by running out on the street completely naked in public. Luckily, I was rescued by the police and sent to a mental hospital. The lesson I learned from this... Is to never do a drug again that can put your life at risk. I'll never do dxm again because I know that it somehow can make you go crazy. I know u posted this 3 years ago satyr but I hope my post reaches out to u somehow. This is the crazy part, I am a chistian. The reason I'm a Christian is I believe the only way I was able to escape the trip was by focusing on god and calling out to him to save me. I guess it wasn't the right time or location for me to die yet and I thank Jesus my life was spared. I don't know if anyone will read this or reply but I hope someday my testimony here made a difference to you. Yea you know who you are, LoL
GOD BLESS!

What you all experienced is what's known as Serotonin Syndrome, or more correctly, Serotonin Toxicity. Visit this link for invaluable info: http://www.psychotropical.com/. Had this happen to me and it was a terrible experience. I'm glad to have found the site as it helped keep me from possibly dying.
