mushrooms and meds

Hi all, I have a question. It's been awhile since i had mushrooms, and I'd like to have them again, but I'm on medication now and I wasn't before. Does anyone here take antidepressants and other related drugs? I smoke weed and that doesn't seem to effect my meds, so I thought since mushrooms are natural too it would be ok. But I want to be safe. Thanks!

since mushrooms and SSRI's work on the same recepter systems in the brain there will be some tolerence factor to be addressed.
I wouldnt. but then again i dont use SSRI's and really dont know that much about them.
check erowid. they got a bunch of relevant info.
PS. Just because a drug is natural doesnt mean its harmless.

there wouldnt be any reaction, as mushrooms work on the sub 2A receptors, SSRIs work by blocking the reuptake of seretonin from the synapses, they dont really work on any receptors

Anti-depressants just make your trip less intense. You need a lot more substance to get the desired effect.
There wouldn't be a reaction with mushrooms and anti-depressants, unless you are taking one I haven't heard of, then there won't be any bad reaction.

Ive tripped 4 times all on SSRI's. I wouldn't know what it would be like without, but i do know that i havent had a bad time.
SSRI [Sertraline] -Most intense trip, little too intense but that was 5g mush
SSRI [Lexapro] -Positive trip, was my favorite [1/8 with lots of weed] -one trip nothing but a nice body high but the shrooms were weak [1/8 weed made it funner -Fun trip with mad giggles, not too many visuals [1g + weed]

from what ive researched anti-depressants "can" (varies from person to person, and how many mgs your on) reduce the strength of a trip. my sis was on them her first time and the amount that knocked me and my girl on the floor unable to complete a sentence, left my sister asking when it was going to start. after taking a gram or two more (i honestly couldn't work a scale at this point) it hit her, and she went off into an intense trip with us.
it might have delayed it, not sure, but since she got off anti-depressants this hasn't happened again.
id recommend, quit taking them for a week, or at least a few days before. if possible. then it wont be a problem. otherwise have a gram or two extra handy incase you need a boost.

not taking them for a week before hand is a VERY BAD idea, when ive missed my meds for that long ive had random crying spells, lightning quick temper flashes, mood swings galore, and it eventually becomes impossible to think at all, trust me, this is not worth it
you do NOT want to trip while youre undergoing ssri withdrawls, thats a recipe for an instant bad trip, and the worst night of your life. period.
instead what you should do is taper your medicine off like im doing, im reducing my meds by 10mgs every 2 weeks, so i avoid the brunt of the withdrawls
this is my first week and ive reduced my dosage from 40mgs to 30, im expecting my general attitude to go to shit anytime, but i hope its worth it to be rid of this shit

The first time I tried shrooms I was on Effexor for depression and ate a whole 8th of cubes and didn't really feel anything so I went to bed after 4 hours.
