How do you know that there are "so many parasites" in the cow manure that wild mushrooms grow from??
I don't think you do.

You're gonna have a hard time convincing a forum full of mushroom hunters that eating mushrooms from cow dung is "gross" and should be avoided.

No there is nothing wrong with dung as a nutrient source......the same poop is used in gardens along with every other type of fertilizing dung around the world......

You guys are tooooo precious. Cows walk bits of dung around the field on hooves, so eating grass shroom to me would be no different. Maybe you prefer easting grass based shrooms off fertilised and poisoned lawns. The only time I draw the line is if it has rained after the shroom has emerged, they get splashed.

Go to wiki, look up the pin worms you have been talking about, they are human parasites anyway and I don't believe you get them from cows. But pickup the neighbors snoot nosed kid...different story however, I know which way i'd rather go. You all choose but I feel for those missing the simple pleasures in life.

im pretty sure mushrooms grow from composted shit not fresh, and the parasites that can live on mushrooms cannot live off of us or cows.

So the parasitic worms don't seem to be a huge risk with eating off cow pats.

How about the larvae that show up in the shrooms? I have thrown a bunch away when they seem a bit too crawly with the little white things but I have also eaten some that were well dried after being briefly previously occupied.

What are the white larvae and are they OK to eat? What is everyone's rule on what is kept and what is not?

my rule is if you have the stomach to ingest a raw freshly picked outta poo shroom ..then u have the stomach to ingest the bugs you might and might not encounter on a daily basis

I'm in no way saying that eating parasites /bugs would be ok
but I've done it with a few fresh specimens ..no worries

I've only had a couple encounters with maggots n larvae ..only due to late picking ... if anything fruitfly/maggot larvae couldn't make you any sicker then eating the mushroom infested with these goobers
