Have you ever gotten worms from eating shrooms that you have picked from cow dung? Is it possible? There are a few friends telling me it is possible and some that say there aren't any because cow dung is anitseptic or something.
Anyone ever gotten worms?

Unless the worms eat into the shrooms you shouldnt have a problem because shroomies decompose what they absorb.

worms.. ? like parasitic worms ? I don't really know if mushrooms can carry parasitic worms ..I'm sure they can
But to answer your question , No I have never found a worm/worms in my system due to eating a mushroom /(p. cubensis) that was picked from poo, neither has friends and family who have eaten the same shrooms picked by me from a very special field
altho I do think thats a possibility when eating something that grows from poop but then again cows rewl ! So I'm not really concerned

if you eat them raw, make sure to chew them up real good. Getting worms from shit shrooms is just as possible as getting them from dirt shrooms. I'm not too aware of the kinds of parasites in shrooms. Usually I just encounter lil bugs, and slugs. No worries, its more protein for me.

is more posbile to get worms from food or vegetable , and specially fast food , that from mushrooms that grow in cow pastures, almost none organism can in cow can affect humand , but some parasites and bacteria can be still be there specially when close to city and garbage and other types of shit ,i will wory more from mushrooms found in the city where dog shit can be very close , but so far all ours friend's are still good, the more close to city more danger you get , also we eat shroom in minimal amounts compare to food so we can still fight any organism in our stomag , our instestin are full with bacteria and other flora that help us , maybe you can eat yogurts and other beneficial bacteria as bacilus, or lactobacilus , some races of ecolli can be fatal , dont worry , also mushrooms improve or stimulate inmune system , i bet may be more danger in your hand tat in shrooms , wash your hand after you go to the bathroon and before you handle mushrooms or you can desinfect as any vegetable if you are too worry.

hookworm tapeworm and the common human intestinal worm (forgot the one, but the little begger who lays it's eggs on the rim of your anus when you sleep) all exit the bovine digestive tract in cyst/egg form. it is possible to get these from the cow/horse, however most animals are treated for worms (and humans can be treated very easily with the general worm tablets).
i would'nt really worry however, as, like cactu said: you have a better chance of getting worms from small children / improperly cooked food than you do picking mushrooms from the earth you can pick up all kinds of problems from the earth, like tetanus etc... but if you're a healthy person, (whos also immunised) wash your hands before eating etc you're good.

Derk, sounds like you are worried in a "morning after" sense. Look I've been eating straight of the pat on and off for quite some time. You see I don't have to leave home to pick so why don't have traveling issues. In all that time there have been no issues or problems that I know of.
Not sure whether I saw it here or not but I agree with the theory that there is something powerful about experiencing the shroom where it grew, spirit of place.. .something like that. So, in conclusion, no problems with eating them off the pat for me or anyone I know. Stop fretting. Enjoy.

ok, so I may have a firsthand experience with this one. I'll go ahead and spill the beans. Towards the end of the Liberty cap season, for about a month I swore I had symptoms of pinworms. On several occasions I did consume libs straight from the ground. I would generally pinch off the bottoms of the mushroom if it had any debris attached. Otherwise, I would just brush them, blow them off, then pop them in my mouth. As we know, they don't grow straight from dung, but in this pasture I noticed cow, rabbit, fox and very occasionally, dog droppings.
Never in my life have I experienced symptoms quite like that. It was pretty scary and I was convinced it was pin worms. You don't know fear until you begin reading and you can experience the mentioned symptoms. Especially in that area of the body! Just thinking about it makes me shiver. I'm not sure if what I was feeling was merely psychologically derived. None the less, it was awful, mentally. At the time I was not prepared to mention these issues on "publicly" on the forum. Anyway, long story short...I don't know for sure what it was, could have been eczema, could have just been a bit of itchiness. I didn't take any medicine for it. I did shower twice as much though and changed some soaps and detergents. But its gone now and I never want to experience such a thing again.
So there you have it...now everyone knows a little more about the past of akb112211.

yeah, if subbs are growing near a piece of dog crap in a lawn i just leave those ones be. I would imagine that drying out the mushrooms would mean any worms would not survive and if you made tea out of the dried mucs i'm you'd be good.

from what i understand mycellium pretty much break down organic material to its components and reformulates that into the mushrooms, so i don't think youd have to worry about harmful things being absorbed into the mushroom from the substrate so much as insects just coming up to the fruiting body and eating their way in.

So everyone is clear, when the original poster mentions "worms" he DOESN'T mean the fly larvae, maggot kind. He's asking about parasitic worms.
I don't know why the substrate keeps getting mentioned... Yes, mushrooms can absorb harmful substances, especially heavy metals. They can't absorb worms.... Unless they are dead. lol.

So I took a shit and there weren't any creepy crawlies. Just some white looking film like a spider web around the small droppings.

man outdoor dung shrooms are gross..
your eating fecal matter man.... so many parasites in that shit.
field aged + pasturized cow dung should be safe. I'd still make sure the shrooms were cleaned well before consuming.
