Questionable jars have been in the fridge for 2 weeks, they look ok, should i inoculate them?
    #8042299 - 02/19/08 10:46 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I had a few jars that i wasnt sure about because they didnt get sterilized right away. I used RR's tek (boiling water) to sterilize them. They have now been in the fridge for about 2 weeks and all look ok except one of them. It looks like a skinny black worm about 1/2cm long, but it was there before i sterilized it. All the rest look fine, but i wanna be sure because its my last syringe. Should they be ok? thanks.

have they been exposed to air during this time? if youre really worried then maybe just sterilize them again?

What is in them? Grain? BRF? Why did you put them in the fridge after sterilizing them? You should re sterilize them, let them cool for 12-24 hours, then knock up.

Also, pictures would be helpful.

no they are brf jars. I dont see why they would need to be re-sterilized. They have been once already and have been in fridge ever since.

go ahead and inoculate them and come back here in 2 weeks crying to us because you used your last syringe on suspect jars.

You already know the answer to your question. If you pc'ed them than they would be fine but since you are only boiling them it would be much safer to start over fresh.
If you do start over fresh their will be no doubt in your mind

yes you can but is it really worth it? You could have cleaned all the jars and mixed up some more brf/verm and had it cooked by now.
