Anonymous said: think of it this way, if you were a cop and 2 phone calls came in you had to answer to one of them, which would you pick of the following...
a) a call from a woman crying how her husband was being attacked by a group of black people in a poor part of town b) someone called because they saw their neighbor and his friends smoking weed and doing who knows else in their own back yard
durrr
you're an idiot. You seriously think that given these two calls, the cop would even get the choice?
perhaps you're not aware that there's no law that states the police have to protect you
so while they'll rush over to the teenager smoker's house to catch em in the act, they'll show up hours and hours later to the distressed caller's place to write a report and NOTHING MORE

yes, you are 100% correct. In fact, this is standard operating procedure.

yeah, law enforcement need to get their priorities straight. i'm down for catching rapists and murderers, but fuck putting someone in jail just because they want to relax a little after a hard days work.

I only read a few replies to this thread so I am sorry if I missed anything important. I agree with whoever related police work to babysitting. The only thing is that it's their job. Nothing more. They do not make the laws, they enforce them. If you are going to be hostile about the drug war, you are barking up the wrong tree. Try writing a formal letter to you're senators and congressmen...that is if you know who they are. Remove yourself from the dumb masses and use your brain. Sure there are bad cops just as there are bad businessman and politicians. Use you're voice, not your mouth.

OK, that response is great.
In all honesty, I don't have personal reason for my critisizim of drug related LE. I have been caught 3 times with weed, twice the cops told me to dump out the bags and grind the stuff into the asphault. The last time, I didn't stop so the cops tagged on everything they could which included an 1/8 I had, I don't hold any grudge for that.
I am not relating LE work to babysitting, only "personal use" drug enforcement. I guess DV, suicide and neighbor dispute calls can be considered babysitting, but I don't want to insult someone who works hard at that kind of job. I am also not hostile towards LE.

i disagree i think his response was typical bullshit
the pigs make too much revenue busting weed smokers, theyre soft easy targets
pigs can use their discretion(fucking cunts think theyre gods when they do)when busting people
if these pigs here on these boards were serious they would refuse to bust weed smokers and go on strike and call in the police union like they do when one of their own gets busted for curruption but then they might have to face of with their peers and we a;; know that these kind of people have never had the guts to do that kind of thing their whole lives unless they are armed and can call backup

i've never once been hassled unreasonably by the cops.
their job is a necessary one, and its physically, mentally and emotionally difficult.
all in all i'm glad they're around, because there are alot of savages in this world.
Not going to read this whole thread, but I have been harassed for no good reason by cops. Travelling through the backassward state of MS at 6AM on a Saturday morning I was pulled over and searched for no good reason. The officer ran my out of state tags for NO reason other than that I was in a black sports car with dark tinted windows (I didn't tint them, bought the car used with the windows that way, but they are not 5% "limo" tint dark) with out of state tags doing the speed limit. He claims my tags "didn't come back" so he pulled me over to investigate. If he'd lied and said "we had a report of a stolen car fitting this description and your tags didn't come back" I might not have felt as violated, but he didn't even bother that part. Just "I ran your tags" (cuz I was bored) "and they didn't come back, so I pulled you over." Fuck that bullshit. On my way back through the same town a few days later they had a tractor trailer pulled over and were searching the contents. Assholes were looking for drug smugglers. I'm just glad I'd been too lazy to go get pot that week or I'd have had some with me, or would have already burnt some on the trip.

yeah i agree, cops can use their own discretion when dealing with these kinds of things. it's not like their superiors are standing over them watching who they write tickets to or arrest.
and yeah, by arresting people for simple drug charges most of them have to pay bail, which are ridiculous.
the laws aren't going to change either because too many people are just uninformed. until public opinion changes about taboo subjects, nothing is going to change.
