mirtazapine
    #8037990 - 02/18/08 01:29 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Anyone ever take this medication? I do not like taking anti depressants because of the negative side effects they cause. They never really helped either. But I was looking into mirtazapine. it is different than meds like paxil, zoloft, lithium etc because it is devoid of serotonin related side effects and wont cause sexual dysfunction. Its also said to help with marijuana cravings... So I decided to try it out, but I wanted to hear opinions.

mainly to alleviate anxiety, it also helps you fall asleep. I had bad insomnia for years now. And lastly because of on and off depression. So anxiety, insomnia and depression. It also helps with pot cravings. I was just reading the info and one of the most common side effects is mild visual hallucinations. Thats great to know... I'm gonna be tripping every night before I go to bed:tongue:

i liked it, it made me sleep good at night(knocks you the fuck out at first), eat better(gave me the munchies) and helped me feel better.

I'm going to go back on it next week i think.

It gave me  really vivid nightmares, sometimes they were cool.

It was kinda like being stoned all the time

i tried zoloft after it and it was fucking horrendous, made me suicidal just after taking it.

I like mirtazipine and it's a bit different from most antidepressants.

Try it and see if you like it.

you sometimes hallucinate just after taking it, it can be pretty cool.

So it's been about a week of taking this medication. I take the lowest dose and it knocks me out! I have been looking for a medication for insomnia for many years and this seems to work better than sleeping meds! I am also prescribed ambien but I no longer need it. Mirtazapine also helps with anxiety, so this medication alone is helping me with pretty much all my problems:)

I noticed that it affects my dreams a lot too... Anyone else notice a difference in their dreams?

15mg

you will have the craziest dreams ever, some nightmares too probably.

You get very vivid dreams with it, you can have lucid dreams easily on it, it's really cool, you can control your dreams a bit.

Is it making you feel any better yet? I think i feel slighlty better, probably because i'm getting decent sleep.
