My neighbours are arseholes
    #8036495 - 02/18/08 02:12 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

and want me to keep my cat inside at all times - just because it sometimes uses their ugly small garden to toilet in. And just because they say so. They get this cat deterrant stuff and put it on their garden and then all over my front verandah! They have done that twice and it bluddy stinks. Not very nice for the cat I imagine either. And once they dug up cat poo and threw it all over my verandah. Thing is - they have a dog that barks when it is outside. Which is very annoying. But we don't complain about their dog.
My cat is really lovely and affectionate and well behaved - it just has to toilet somewhere. Mostly it doesn't use their garden but occassionally it may I suppose. Most people really like my cat. He's even cute and fluffy. See if I kept my cat inside - I have had to on vet orders once or twice - he goes bluddy crazy - meows very loudly and a lot, and runs around the house trying to get out. Gets really angry and jumps at me if I don't let him out when I go out. Drives him nutters and me nutters. I cant stand it after 2 days. My current house is the first house I have owned. If I had to keep him inside I would have to move house. These arsehole neighbours rent. I have moved 19 times in 16 years since I left school - share house renting and having to deal with finding a place where I could keep my cat. I am sick of renting and sick of having to negotiate to keep my cat that I love. When I got my own place I thought finally I wouldn't have to answer to anyone re having a cat. No-one has ever asked that I keep it inside in my cat's 9 years of life. Now I have these bluddy neighbours. Any ideas on what I could do?

Thanks. Under the new domestic violence laws I could actually get an apprehended violence order taken out on them because they have trespassed on my property and the nature of their actions would qualify as harrassment. I could make it so they couldnt come near my verandah or near my cat. Though I am afraid they might then try and poison my cat. I wouldn't put it past them. One of them is violent towards the other - can hear it through the walls sometimes. It's two older lesbian ladies, they have punch ups then one of them always ends up crying a lot.

I think they have a right to use animal deterrent on their place, but definitely not on yours. If they do it again I would have a talk with them. A nice but firm talk.

I've never heard of a leash law for cats, but there is a noise law in most places for dogs barking. Just remind them of that. Hell if nothing else tell them you'll be happy to clean up after the cat if you need to but your cat has as much right to go outside as their dog does.

Well the cat looks at the garden as a litter box so maybe you should make a litterspot on the edge of your yard, you could even put a litterbox outside and then it will go there instead. My kitten is almost full grown and likes to go outside too but we don't let her. I take her out on the porch. Throwing cat crap on your stuff is illegal and in some places would be considered assault. I had a job I was doing that the lady fucked me out of my pay and I needed an escort to go get my tools and I explained to the cop the situation and told him that I had a bad record and didn't trust this lady and they sent someone over with me. I just did 5 yrs so I am all about not getting in trouble for shit I didn't do...I would at least report it so it is on file that way if they do poison your cat or attack you , it will be on file already.Otherwise they can wiggle out of the blame should something happen and you are left stuck. You could prob get a restraining order if they cause too many issue...B&E their house and dip their dildos and strap ons in tabasco sauce cayan pepper or something in their pussy lotion/lube....bulldyke bastards!:69:Scissor me...oh scissor me Mrs Garrisson!!!lol

Your neighbours should get German shepards and Labradors.

LOL!! That made me laugh. Thanks for the ideas. I rang the local council today and there is definitely no leash law on cats. They can only make you keep a cat inside if it damages someone else's property. Toileting isn't considered damage. So at least I know I have the right to let my cat roam free. I am definitely going to get it on file with the police that they have been trespassing - and the poo throwing incident. Still can't believe they would do that!! I am going to write a letter to the real estate agent as well. Dunno how their landlord would feel about all that. Maybe mention the domestic violence as well - because all that banging around might be doing damage to some walls I reckon. They really are a sad pair.

All my neighbors think I'm deaf, this is your best option, neighbors are definitely afraid of deaf people, especially emotional ones, I've learned.

Also, if your cat ever pissed on my garden, I would hand feed it rat poison, then put it through my wood-chipper into your lawn.

They actually did that a while ago, and then they took it down again for some reason. It was really funny, they hung garlic all over it. I was almost tempted to hang up some rabbit feet and a few crosses and stuff.

Man, latest development - they left their dog on the verandah the last couple of nights and it is barking constantly and keeping us awake. I don't know why I am so intimidated by them. I guess I am worried they might try and poison my cat.
It is beginnig to get me very angry now. I just want to live and let live.
