I just had a revelation.
    #8035250 - 02/17/08 04:04 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

So... I have a corneal transplant. Last week, my vision started to blur really badly in my left eye. I couldn't count fingers in front of my face even... everything was an indistinct blob. Think of looking through frosted glass and it's somewhat comparable to that.

I flipped. I've been struggling with this transplant for a couple years now, and for the most part things have gone fine. But, when this blur stuff kicked in I nearly lost it. I have no insurance, and have had none for the last year. But, suffice it to say I kicked it to the Dr. regardless of financial or healthcare awareness. I had to get seen.

In short, I was suffering tissue rejection... my body tried to kill my new cornea. Err... relatively new I guess.

I got put on a hardcore steroid in eyedrop form that has been amped up to once every two hours per application, and an antibiotic.

On Friday night, I looked up, and realized I could see in front of me again. This was quazi-spiritual... very eye-opening, no pun intended. It was a revelation of the most profound sort. I just learned a huge lesson on how not to take shit for granted. It's like dangling over the edge of a precipice and, just in the moment when your fingers slip and scrabble for footing on the edge, you are pulled back up by a comrade... very cinematic. Modern medicine is an amazing thing, really.

I just wanted to share my happiness with you folks.

Need to hire a new script writer.

The dialogue is kinda shit.

She was way hot in it though, but they should have bumped it up to R and shown her titties.

That's the problem with most movies today - they sacrafice story and acting for sexuality. :nonono:

I wish I could remember which philosopher said it, but the quote goes "In lieu of creativity, there will be an increased focus on sexuality".  That's pretty damn close to the quote anyway.  It's true too.  It's even true with people, not just works of art.  Just think of any dull chicks you know.

Isn't this veering off the main path a little bit?

Glad to hear you can see!  What about the financial situation?
It's funny, the replies not only missed the point, but proved it at the same time.  Here's a guy explaining how he might have lost his sight and how we take such things for granted, and the following reply is a comment on how a movie sucked.

I dunno... maybe rock on... or nice to hear.. or something to that extent would be acceptable.

It was definitely momentous for me. Maybe I misjudged the general warmth of this community a little?

I attribute it to modern medicine honestly.

Either way I can't really put the level of my happiness into words.

This, right on the heels of watching my sister kick an opiate habit... life is good.
