Audiosurf - Trippiest game ever

*This has been posted in OTD as well but I figured for those who don't wander into OTD yet love to trip also need to see this*
Audiosurf is a brand new indie game released just on this past Friday the 15th. No questions asked, you should definitely buy this game immediately. It is another music game like Rock Band or Guitar Hero; however, it is very different. It is for the PC only and you can play ANY sound file that you have on your computer including MP3's, WMA's, CD's, and a few others.
It is by far the trippiest game I have ever seen. Colors rainbows, designs, fractals, and streamers are all over this game as you navigate a ship down a track catching different blocks that correspond to the music you are listening to. I'm not sure if this game is available in stores but it is downloadable directly to your PC through steam for only $10! WHAT A STEAL!
If you do not have steam, pick it up HERE for free.
Once you have installed steam you can find audio surf at the Store menu for only 10 bucks. I highly recommend this game. There are varying difficulties and many different game types, as well as leaderboards and I think a 2 player mode. Like I said, you can pick any audio file on your computer (if it's the right file type) and play along to it. Once in the game it gives you a Browse File Path window and you can then open up your playlists, CDs, Itunes, P2P file shared folder, whatever. The trippiest and hardest songs are electronic and trance. The hardest song I have played yet is "XTC In My Mind" by Infected Mushroom. I leave you with a few youtube videos (they have some shitty songs being showed on youtube I tried to pick a few that would show the game off nicely).
System of a Down
David Bowie
Even if you don't like video games I think that this game is definitely an exception. Oh also, on steam there is a free demo that you can use 4 of your own songs for. So check it out!

what, does it automatically determine the BPMs of the song and make a level to it?

I'm not tripping my face off as hard now and all I can say about this game is that its a rollercoaster through your favorite song where you can rack up points by making colors match. SOOOO SIMPLE!!!! SOOOO GOOD!!!

Too bad the placement and collection of the pieces does not at all correspond to the music, basically making this a game where you drive forward on a five lane track and pick up colored blocks. WOAH TRIPPY DUDE!

did you play the game? or are you making assumptions from those crappy quality youtube videos? In the first one you can't really notice it, and I think its not totally synched, but Im not really sure because I don't listen to them. In the second its a lot more apparent, it definitely goes with the drums, but thats a pretty mellow song.
All the music ive tried on it so far has synched awesomely, so maybe its just your music or those youtube videos thats messed up.
If a song has a slow part, you go slower and uphill, if its fast, you go faster and downhill. just that part I think is pretty good. theres also tons of background stuff thats pretty trippy and on mono modes like ninja mono, the colors change color with the track. Its like an interactive visualizer, but not just random shit that you cant see how it compares with the song.
If you were tripping and played that you would love it.

From what I've seen the music synchs up very well. In other words it's not like you are just driving a car while listening to music in the background. These videos aren't the greatest and definitely do not show off the game's potential. I should upload a video of me playing some trance or something, I'm just too lazy.
Some of the game modes are tough!
At least check out the demo. It is 100% free and so it steam. The game file isn't that big so in like 20 minutes (if you have broadband) you could try this game out without spending a penny.

I have been playing it for some time. Complicated, multiple melody stuff like boards of canada makes for some interesting bumpy roads.
Very, very good. I'm going to show off my new toy to my mates.

Well those aren't my videos but you just need a screen recording program like FRAPS. Just record it, save the video file, and get a youtube account and upload it. I've never done it personally but just get FRAPS, it costs money but you can either get a trial or just torrent it.
