Audiosurf - Trippiest Game Ever
    #8034358 - 02/17/08 11:38 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Audiosurf is a brand new indie game released just on this past Friday the 15th. No questions asked, you should definitely buy this game immediately. It is another music game like Rock Band or Guitar Hero; however, it is very different. It is for the PC only and you can play ANY sound file that you have on your computer including MP3's, WMA's, CD's, and a few others.

It is by far the trippiest game I have ever seen. Colors rainbows, designs, fractals, and streamers are all over this game as you navigate a ship down a track catching different blocks that correspond to the music you are listening to. I'm not sure if this game is available in stores but it is downloadable directly to your PC through steam for only $10! WHAT A STEAL!

If you do not have steam, pick it up HERE for free.

Once you have installed steam you can find audio surf at the Store menu for only 10 bucks. I highly recommend this game. There are varying difficulties and many different game types, as well as leaderboards and I think a 2 player mode. Like I said, you can pick any audio file on your computer (if it's the right file type) and play along to it. Once in the game it gives you a Browse File Path window and you can then open up your playlists, CDs, Itunes, P2P file shared folder, whatever. The trippiest and hardest songs are electronic and trance. The hardest song I have played yet is "XTC In My Mind" by Infected Mushroom. I leave you with a few youtube videos (they have some shitty songs being showed on youtube I tried to pick a few that would show the game off nicely).

System of a Down

David Bowie

Even if you don't like video games I think that this game is definitely an exception. Oh also, on steam there is a free demo that you can use 4 of your own songs for. So check it out!
