just wondering if this drill bit that i got is too big. It is 1 3/4 inches, and i was going to drill about 6 holes. Also i am about to spawn brf to coir, and i was wondering if i should use my oven to aid against contams, by heating it up and working over it with door open. THanks

Don't use your oven, the temp differences cause airflow, which will circulate contams. You don't want that, you want still air when working, unless you have a laminar flow hood.

Yep ! Grind them up and mix them with your coir.
While you are reading and studying a procedure ..... it is easy to get all caught up in the details ..... details are GOOD for the success of a project .... but some details are just details.
"When cutting up a BRF cake, be sure and use the plastic blades on your Food Processor..."
"I only have metal blades ... am I doomed to failure?!"
"I don't have a Food Processor .... am I doomed to failure?!"
It goes on and on.
The key points are: Make sure your BRF cakes are fully colonized. Make sure you use enough of them (spawn ratio) so your field capacity hydrated bulk (coir) colonizes rapidly. etc.
I would just break them up (into small chunks) with your clean hands.
I did monotubs with 8: 1 1/2' holes .... very dry ambient humidity, fan going, constant peeking .... and misting.
It's a balancing act. Bigger 1 3/4" holes .... peek less .... or mellower fan .... not enough FAE, more fan .... more ambient humidity, bigger or more holes .... just balance it all out ....and have fun and learn.
Good luck.
Hope my rambling isn't too confusing.
