1st mushy hunt

So I decided to go exploring. Not the first time iv done this, but it is the first time iv looked for any type of mushroom. Also the first time i did not get lost:grin:


these pics sum up what i found

That looked like a good time. Mushrooms will get easier to see the more you find them. Nice pics!

idk if it gets cold there but, looking at that forest, I'm sure you could find some enoki on some dead hardwood. Wait till after a cold night then go out looking, usually on the shady side of dead hardwood stumps/fallin tree's. a very delicious find indeed. ID'ing them is simple, they have a hard stemp and a sticky cap. Good luck.

thanks for the advice

very very new to this so when i do go out i just kinda poke around. I have been looking at the photos around here to get a good idea of the types of areas they grow.

not really, fresh fruit usually arrives the next day after a fairly cold night, 32-45º roughly, the best time for enoki is in the spring or a early thaw. enoki's aka. the velvet feet have a real rough brown stem as the texture of velvet. and the cap sticks to you're finger. I dont see to much else like that.
