how to harvest a casing

My question is as in the topic ive already harvested the mushrooms twisting them off near their base but there was 1 shroom which rooted deep into the substrate , since i ve got 1/4" of casing trying to rip it off ive seen that a 2x2 cm casing is about to come off so trying not to rip it tried to remove the remaining parts but couldnt so there is nearly 0.5 x 0.5 cm part that stayed on the casing , an hour later looking at that point ive seen it turned bule green because of bruising and the mycelial network in that 2x2 cm was damaged , anyway i wanted to leave it that way misted it heavily , todayw when i checked it ive seen that 2x2 cm is covered with new healthy white mycelium but i can still see through it the left small part of mushroom which turned blue green , what should i do , that minimal amount is not important or should i dig it all the way ,
By the way after first harvest alot , most of the casing turned a lil bit yellow should i scrape the casing and apply new casing or leave it as it is ?? ( i would like to leave it as it is if it wont cause contam problems )
thanks for answers =)

hahaha.. stop being a pussy... just pull a lil and twist at the same time... then patch the casing where it came out... dont worry about it, unless you are ripping out the substrate with it... lol... just twist, pull, and eat... haha

i think i cannot rip that part im scared that a big part of the casing will come out and i dont want that what happens when that lil bit of mushroom stays in there would it rot and contaminate all the casing ???

Just pull it out carefully some casing material will come out thats normal for a casing layer.if left long enough it would rot but it would take awhile.

yellow means metabolites which could be an indication that it might be fighting off a contam of some sort just let it go and see how it turns out a pic would help too.

ive sent the picture of the casing to contamination , while it was turning gray , then RR answered that my casing and substrate was drying out and i had half of my mushrooms aborted after that i floode the pan , the other half of the shrooms grew healthy and digested but that gray blue dry mycelium turned into yellowish mycelium over time im going to post pictures of its situation now please check the thread after a while

and this is the thread in the contam forum : http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8000856/an/0/page/0/gonew/1#UNREAD thanks for helping .

Those pictures are of your casing, prior to harvesting your first flush? How deep is your substrate? Don't hold your breath for a second flush that has more than one mushroom.
As far as your harvesting question goes, just twist and pull. Your substrate will be just fine. Any substrate trying to come with the mushroom can be held down with your other hand while you pull. Then patch the wounds with fresh casing. Any contamination you may experience will most likely result from other factors.

yes that is close to end of first flush the harvest was poor 1.5 oz wet the substrate is halfpint wbs spawned to half pint coir . Substrate depth is between 1.75" 2 " casing is coir verm ( i dont have peat moss) during those times that i have left the casing dry 30 40 pins aborted if i could keep them growing i guess i could harvest something around 3 oz but anyway today looking at te casings surface again ive seen 3 primordia on the casing surface .

That's how we learn. Get some new jars going for your next stab, if you haven't already. Well, better luck next time.

Twist and pull.
That casing looks a little dry
