popped kernels= exposed inners=starch=sticky=clumpy mess.

skip the simmer process if you have that problem

Make sure that you rinse the hell out of them and like the previous poster said, if you have a lot of busted grains from simmering, they'll make the WBS really sticky. Instead of simmering, get a pot of water to a boil, turn off the heat and dump your seeds in and put the lid on the pot. Wait a 1/2 hour to an hour, dump it into a collander, rinse it well and drain it well. WBS doesn't need to be simmered like rye does. It absorbs water much faster.

and when we say rinse and drain well... WE MEAN IT.. lol... just soak them overnight... then rinse with cool tap water till the water runs clear... put into a collander or strainer, and let it sit for 30 minutes, shake it up a lil bit, and let it sit a lil longer... you want the moisture on the outside of the kernels no to be there.. the moisture should be inside of them... strain verrrrrryyyy well, and you wont have a problem..

soak for 24 to 36 hours...

then shake the WBS in a colander.

add a little gypsum to your WBS jars...

don't bother simmering on the stove...

just pc them.

~Good information...what do you guys think about a Myco-bag WBS spawned to bulk substrate (Martha-tek or monotub) for first time grow, as opposed to starting with cakes?  Is starting with cakes really considered so essential?  ~Pixie~
