casing (pics)

How long does it typically take to see growth with a casing? I cased this on the Feb. 13 and there's still next to no growth. The take off time for spawn added to manure is very quick, is this because manure has nutes? Does this look a little behind?

Hopefully this casing turns out ok I have a few more trays I'd like to case.  :peace: :mushroom2:

Normally you see myc breaking through the top layer about two days after the casing, but it can take a few more days.

Don't worry, your casings should be fine.
Just be sure to spray enough water on top, so the moisture content is correct!

The casing seems to be moving along much quicker I know just a day later. :smirk: I just gave it a good misting and took a quick pic, I was wondering if I should patch this now or just let it be?

Let it colonize a little more, then patch, because you'd probably have to patch it every day, when you do it now, because the rest of myc will try to keep up with the faster poking one.
Wait for the layer to be poked through at a few more points, so you can tell it's colonizing through all the way, patch all the spots mist nicely again, then put it in the FC and nature make it's move

Yeah I was thinking of lightly patching the aggressive spots, this prevents overlay right?

This is my first casing I'm really surprised how even it is, I'm hopin for a good flush.

There is no need to patch, especially when you have such even growth.

I think the only reason to patch is when myc colonizes unevenly.

I never patch, nor do I re-incubate.

Try a case and place along side a case and re-incubate, I have, and my little experiments have shown no discernible advantage to re-incubating or patching.

My case and place trays usually fruit twice within 21 days in the FC, and at least 3 times total within 30 days.

There are about a billion threads that appear when you use the search funtion!
Furthermore, there actually several casing teks in the FAQ.
Just take look at the top this very forum, then you'll see the cultivation FAQ, as well as the casing FAQ.

Use black plastic trays...they inhibit side pinning and work great...no digestion of plastic there.
