If you browse the other forums you will quickly become aware that most psychedelic users are just as fallible as anyone else.

At least give us cred for allowing your views to stand instead of just censoring you like the pirate forums. :peace:

I wouldn't doubt that the site does get extra hits because of these links. I have used google to find obscure albums, all it takes is "album name + mediafire" and you're bound to come up with a few links to forums.

Ever notice how the pub will have a thread with 10000+ views in a night at times, because of keywords in the thread title or something (probably "titties" or whatever)? I'm sure you have. You're a smart guy.

interchill and aleph zero although i respect you and love some the artists on your label i am too broke to buy CDs. not to mention the albums i download sometimes have one or two good songs that i like and the rest is shit. so fuck you guys. im just going to find your albums on blogs and other websites and continue to share them with the rest of the shroomerites that i know will appreciate it. if your artists want to make a living, tell them to go on fucking tour with hannah montanah and the jonas brothers. it should be for the love of the music and for spreading it around for people's pure enjoyment. i understand the investment that must go into producing an album must be damn near heartbreaking, but i honestly don't have the money to buy a bunch of fucking discs (not digital files) and wait for them to come in the mail so i can play out one or two good songs and then get tired of it and let it sit in a spindle for a few years. i have an education to pay for also other bills and shit. if i hear an album that is truly worthy and i really appreciate the artist i have seen live i will buy it ( i own several; killowatts, Gift Culture, artificial life preserver, kick bong, Entheogenic ect.) but the rest i will download for my own previewing and djing purposes and then if i decide its worth it i will give the artist their dues. fuck a label.

Thanks for sharing the music, loving the suggestions.

I have a freely available album from an artist I really like

Medicamentosa by Crisopa
Download: OGG / MP3

Quote:

http://www.addsensor.com/addsensor_html.htm
Medicamentosa: an electronic music that produces a neurologic alteration through its listening. It provides frequencies and melodies that shocks straightly to the motional system of the human being. A very long listening produces the following sides effects: isolation, relax, being in love, utopic thoughts. It is recommended in a therapeutic level by professionals, in order to balance all the unhealthy situations nowadays.

Rest of his discography is at http://www.myspace.com/crisopa

Here is another free release:

early reflections is an inspiring introduction into the expanding ambient world of liam skogland (aka (val)liam).

ambient music has always played a humble role in the electronic music scene. high levels of gratitude and respect are given to those producers that have the creativity and patience to evolve a genre plagued with periodicity. skogland is quickly on his way to becoming one of those artists.

begin your adventure with "orange horizon". picture an enchanting sunrise over a calm and secluded lake, on a warm august morning. lush, balmy pads play a familiar role throughout the entire release, creating a strong foundation for new layers of sound to tickle the senses.

the uplifting naturistic moods in "avalon" give the listener an effortless enjoyable experience that carries well into the next few tracks. compelling elements of acoustic + ibanez guitar, heard in "wonder" and "distance", act as a refreshing alternative to the atmospheric leads presented in most of the compositions.

"early reflections", the ep's title track, delivers and sets itself apart from the rest. treat yourself to pulsating kicks and deep synthetic progressions as (val)liam concludes his journey in hypnotic fasion. celebrate dewtone's 6th release, a modest example of yet another young canadian artist breaking out of his musical shell.

download it here

direct link

his new album is also out: link. so far it's one of my favorites of 2009, if not the favorite...

happy 420 BTW

I tell you I can see it from both sides and your side is just as flawed as ours. I am speaking as a long time psychedelic fan, not as a moderator.
Our ideals may be flawed but your business model which relies on music sales revenues is extinct, follow the footsteps of your bigger corporate models. Advertising and sponsorships are the way to go. People pay enough to get their media, and due to the way the internet has panned out Music sales dwindled. The professionals and the DJs who spin your music is where you should seek sales revenue now. If I could afford to pay $10-$15 every time a new release popped up I would love to, as I realize the huge difference in quality.  So for now I will remain with the ranks of the rest of the "criminals" in the world and keep getting my music for free elsewhere. I think you are fighting an endless war ironically similar to the endless war on drugs which is very contradictory to the message that your product portrays. To me it's a little sad to see.

Like I said I am a big fan but apparently I am not a valid/valued fan as I'm a "pirate". What ever happened to it being about the music?

Just my two cents, hope I didn't rile you up. I don't want you to sic your big lawyers on me.

Effed, please make the efforts to read our posts in previous pages and maybe also check the links I posted. All my answers to your post are there. Those advertising models you're talking about are not working, mate. It's a big bubble. Even Facebook, with the second biggest advertising potential after google, is loosing money big time. And google is making money because they hold everyone by the balls. Small underground artist or labels can never reach traffic numbers big enough to generate income that can support them in any way.

It's about nothing but the music- the possibility of this music to even exist.

And you can wake up from your dream and relax, non of us is richer then you, I promise you, so no big lawyers on your case, not even tiny ones.

I wish all those hiding behind claims like I'm poor/your ripping us/this industry in obsolete/your business model is dead /free music revolution/ fuck the labels / fuck the artist etc. etc. to be honest with themselves and everyone else. The truth is very simple, if you won't give back to music you like, it will die. If you take and don't give back- you're killing the music. It's up to you- no one to hide behind anymore. This is not a model- this is real life. There are many ways to give back, and you really don't have to be that rich to do it.

And payam, shirts & posters only through our website. Hope you enjoy the show.

Wow, do you guys actually not buy music? I pirate alot but still buy 1-2 albums a week (don't earn much) because you do need to support the music. If you can afford drugs then you can afford music.

Would you really still not buy music if you didn't have all these torrents? Surely you can fit it into your budget?

I read your posts, they were nice. I understand what you are saying. I wonder how much it costs the labels to pay people to track down where they are losing their money? I am aware that they are losing a lot, but is compounding loss effectively helping? I just think you are fighting a war I feel that simply can not be won.

Its humorous to me how you have threatened us, asked us to take down "links"... and in the same sentence you are advertising your products for free. We have sponsors who pay to advertise here. Thanks for stopping by, good luck in your quest for musical justice. :sun:

I do buy some music, but CDs are like burning money to me. I'm sorry I just don't consider this stealing, to me it still qualifies under sharing.

i disagree on the quality bit. i went back just a few minutes ago to prove this theory and played two of the same track but one from an illegal mp3 download and one from itunes. the illegal track is not as high a bitrate but it is lame encoded vbr.
with both in each CDJ and switching over between channels it sounds pretty much the same. with the volume at a decently high (think psytrance!) level
almost no difference when playing the same itunes download quality track with the illegal one.

i know plenty of djs who do it and get away with it too. :tongue2:

Deranger,

>better quit worrying, because it's just going to get worse for you.  might as well just accept the inevitable.

Actually, I think the inevitable you will need to accept is that a lot of artists you enjoy will no longer be releasing music if it means they have to do so at a loss.

You know, it's not like any of us  _have to_ put the music out there.

The same problem is affecting newspapers, magazines, and soon movies too. All creative content makers. No matter how much people say they expect stuff to be "free" on the web, it costs money/time/resources to create these things. Without the resources, creation will dry up, as people will have to seek another way to make a living. Pretty obvious really.

A lot of people choose to support the labels and artists they like. I'm just here to emphasise to people that this really is something they have to seriously consider, not just some whining by rich major label fatcats. Dakini, and many of the other labels being traded here, only manage to survive because we do have a base of loyal customers who support us. (Barely.)

People who like to file-trade always tend to talk idealistically about "sharing". Well, my question is, what do you share with the artists? The label? Seems like all take and no give from my perspective, and that sure ain't sharing...

Don't mean to come off as flaming, and I'm perfectly willing to continue this discussion.

Cheers,

Gio

I understand where you're coming from and agree that artists should be supported.  I'm just saying the spreading of music throughout the internet is inevitable and cannot be stopped unless drastic measures are taken.  This forum is one out of countless forums out there sharing music.  Not to mention the music blogs, soulseek, private forums, torrent trackers, etc.  You are picking tiny pieces from the massive pie that will not be taken down unless some crazy shit happens.

And if that crazy shit does happen, where will us poor people get our music from?  Are we supposed to starve?
