very soft, floaty music. Good to fall asleep to, or to dream to. Or to draw to, or to read to, or to trip into faery land.

Nice, but I refuse to listen to that until I have the CD and I'm really really high.

You guys have got to compare .mp3 to CD if you haven't, the difference is insane. I mean the universal encoder for .mp3 is called L.A.M.E. come on.
Solar Fields is very expensive music to make because he uses the best gear.
Please thank Solar Fields by buying the album.

This is my first time listening to Solar Fields and I'm liking what I hear. Checking out his page that lists his studio gear I'm jealous. I'd like to live in there for a month and see what I could come up with.

Do you still walk around with a discman hanging out your backpack? Sorry, bub, the vast majority of the music I listen to is from mp3s. The only reason I still purchase music is to listen to on my home theater and that is rarely because I live in an apartment.
I'll take the convenience of portability and vast amount of disk space over compressed sound frequencies I probably wouldn't be able to hear anyway.

.flac is amazing, if you have 200-400 megabytes of space per album.
Otherwise an mp3 over 192 kb/s (320 ftw) is the best for portability and non-cd playback.
If you really want quality buy the product.

Vinyl wins hands down over any medium.
It's the best size for album art too.

I reeeeaally want to get some BoC on vinyl. I wish they had "Acid Memories"on vinyl.. that would just add to the already amazing editing.

Of course I also meant lossless. .m4a all the way. Disc space? Get with the times bub, 1TB drives are cheap and 120GB iPods are here.
I am only suggesting folks compare a .mp3 at any bit rate and a .wav or .m4a back to back, the difference is obvious, especially Ambient, especially through headphones.

the thing is when you pay for a CD and have a physical copy you pay mor attention to it and give it more listens from my own experience. it happened to me several times that i pirated an album and gave it a try and didn't like it so i never gave it a 2nd chance. and then after a long time (often a year or 2) i gave it one more try because of a review or something and loved it. this won't happen if you own the CD since you'll listen to it more than once. and most of my favorite albums are the ones that grew on me and often i didn't like them after the first listen. the best example would be SOLAR FIELDS _ LEAVING HOME. this album is one of my all time favorites but i didn't like it first time i heard it. actually most of ultimae releases end up being much better after several listens...
