Hey guys, does anyone know of any music even remotely like Stone In Focus, Cliffs, Rhubarb, Lichen from Aphex Twins Selected Ambient Works II. I simply can't get enough of these tracks, tried stuff by Eno, Steve Roach, etc and although they're good they just don't compare to what RDJ has done here.
Essentially i'm looking for stuff without beats, no cheesey world percussion or anything like that and preferably with a semblance of RDJ's ability to create a real poignant atmosphere. Basically anything close to the above tracks would be awesome. I'd really appreciate some recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Ishq Ishvara Elve Colourform (especially this album, it's fucking outrageous)
Basically anything by Matt Hillier.

i haven't heard most of what you mentioned but here are my favorite beatless psybient: Ishq - elve - ishvara - colourform (anything with Matt Hillier) (specially Ishq - Orchid)
Various - Oxycanta and Oxycanta winter bloom (2nd one has some beats)
for a spacey beatless check out The Nature of Light - Shores of Jupiter. it's available for free download here
for dark beatless: orbit constructions - androneda
and also Solar Fields - Extended and Leaving Home (although they have few beats every now and then)
i'm not sure if they are what you are looking for but you might like em

Crazy, we almost made the same exact post.
New Ishq album is a collaboration with Pan Electric, same guy Hillier worked with on the Elemental Journey album.

Bil bless is best defined as... Broken Beat/Electronic/Experimental/Glitch/IDM.
Definetly listen to WeCan Duzit. If anybody knows you could relate this to Tipper but then even better. Enjoy!

so far these cd's have been on repeat since finding!:
Amon Tobin - The foley room Jazzsteppa - 5 Trifonic - Emergence
Anyone got some more finds by these artists?

Thanks for the great suggestions guys, been put onto some awesome stuff.
I still found most of it to be a bit too involving if you know what I mean. I'm looking for really minimalistic stuff, nothing too sinister, nothing too happy. With barely a slight semblance of a tempo (if at all) and basically, fewer notes the better.
That's the best way i can describe these tracks by Aphex Twin from SAW vol 2. Check them out if you haven't heard them, i'm hoping someone else loves these tracks as much as i do and knows of anything similar.

Ok, I found several groups on this thread that are now among my top 10 favorites so I have to contribute something..
I bought this album randomly when I was in 7th grade. It was the first "industrial" album I ever heard and it blew my mind. The sound texturing and ferocious primal rawness of this album is beautiful.
Front 242, check it out!

Cool. I was wondering if anyone listened to those.
This is still my favorite by Tobin, just because it was so mind blowing at the time:

Amon Tobin - Permutation (1998)

Thanks Middleman, I got Amon's - Taxidermia & Chaos theory last night. So apart from Foley room and Permutation is there any more?
Anyone a fan of the 'Dust brothers - Fight club soundtrack' ?

Evan Bartholomew - Secret Entries Into Darkness | Feb 2008

Quote:
evan bartholomew [bluetech] brings another example of sonic storytelling to somnia, moving from atmospheric float into pulsing minimal electroid rhythms.
fractaline analog grooves and micro beat construction establish a hypnotic base for a composed layer of ambient exploration to unfold. presenting a balance of analog moduler synth elements and complex dsp processing, 'secret entries into darkness' further's somnia's approach to cinematic modern music.

^^^ All of his CDs are posted earlier in the thread, reposts are cool though, the more links the better.
polantis, search "Amon Tobin discography" they are all great albums.
It's funny you mention Fight Club OST, I used to rotate that constantly with Tobin's Supermodified back in 2000.

 Tides - "Resurface"
I don't know of any torrents for this, but it is definitely worth your money. Has a very "watery/ rebirthy" feel, as the title suggests. Very encompassing, goes from crushing to droney to spacey to fluctuating and pulsating.
