Most likely low blood pressure. You're metabolism is trying to account for it by pumping extra blood to bring the pressure up. If you stand up suddenly after sitting or lying down for awhile, and you feel light-headed, then this is definitely the case.

this happens to me (feeling light headed when standing up quickly) but every time when they check my blood pressure at the doctor's office (which I tend to avoid as much as possible) it is quite normal.

yea i used to get that occasionally and then after a coke binge i was having it all the time for a couple weeks. my mom told me it was prolly my heart giving an extra beat inbetween beats as that runs in my family. i went and had an ekg and they said that yea i was have extra beats. they suggested i have an ultra sound to see if my heart was damaged but i couldnt afford it. the condition can be caused by several things some of wich can be very serious even life threatening. well its been about 6 years since then and i mostly dont have them anymore. i found smoking lots of pot makes me have them more. arrhythmia pallpitations is the term

You could have an arrhythmia, and you should get it checked out to make sure nothing is wrong.
Some arrhythmia's are benign. Nothing to worry about. They usually begin with maturity and eventually disappear (like 5-10 years).
Other arrhythmia's are dangerous. You can get something called ventricular fibrillation, where your heart goes in to spasm and you drop dead pretty much instantly.

If I ever have a heart attack, I will send my heart to you for a complete diagnosis. Can I still smoke pot while you have my heart?

You should really get that checked out! If only for peace of mind.
I have an arrhythmia, and have had it for the past 7 years. I went to my doctor at first, because I was rather scared of it, having been born with a heart murmur. The doctor gave me a clean bill of health though (whats more, I had finally grown out of my murmur).
It's not as bad as it used to be...I probably only notice a screwed up beat a few times a week. It used to be a few times a day!
I notice it most when I am trying to go to sleep, or when I am resting. It only happens when my heart bpm goes down below 60.

I will mention it next time I see a doctor.
