Print making q's

I have a nice fruit that I plan on using to make a print, but I'm not sure when to pick it. The FAQ says, "The right time is once the cap has opened and begins to throw spores, visible as purple deposit on and under the cap, for instance on the stem or on the veil or on the surface of the cake respective casing," but the fruit grew out and then sorta down, so it's upside down and I can't tell if it's "dropping" spores. The veil broke about a day and a half ago and the edges haven't yet turned up. Should I go ahead and start printing or wait a little longer?

Also I plan on making some syringes with the print I make. If the print finishes say on thursday and I make the syringe on friday, do I need to let the spores rehydrate or should they be ok? It's pretty important that I get the syringes all ready for some inoculations I plan on doing friday.

When the cap starts to flatten after the veil breaks is a good time. Try to leave the cap for 24 hours on the foil or whatever for good results.

If you finish the print on Thursday and make the syringe on Friday, you could use the syringe as soon as it's made. Fresh spores do not require rehydration.

Right on, that's what I wanted to hear. So if the fruit is about 2 inches across, and I get a nice dark print, about how many syringes can I make out of it?

A shitload. You only have to scrape an area the size of a matchhead for each syringe. Got the picture?

That's awesome, but I was under the impression that the more spores used, the faster germination/colonization? How much do most people typically use?

Since my cat makes lots of prints (he gets lots of shrooms, so why not?) he usually goes way overboard and uses a whole print for 1-2 syringes - however many he's making at the moment.

for a normal sized print 4/6 syringes is ideal, you can squeese 10 out, but i have never made more than 4
