is it possible to right click on a mac?
    #8028025 - 02/15/08 04:23 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

So I used a Mac for the first time the other day and it seemed pretty nice except I found having to hit the apple key to do things a right click would normally do EXTREMELY annoying. It seems like there's a decent amount of PC to Mac converts is there any program you can get or setting you can change to assign an apple key function to the right mouse button?

Macs have 3 button mice now...

Scroll wheel and everything.

You can also just hit the Apple button while you click. I think thats right click. Or maybe its apple+something+click. I dunno. Macs rock though.

Macs rock?

If your definition of rock is eating Steve Jobs white encrusted shit, and paying far more than what you would for a PC of greater performance that can be upgraded completely, then sure. Macs rock.

That said, they're just a brand of PC now. An expensive one, with an operating system that's more closed off than windows. And no directx. But who am I to say how people should spend their money? Go buy a big bucket of cocaine to go with that mac.

Well anybody with a brain who has a mac would buy themselves a proper 3rd party mouse with second button and scroll wheel.

But for those who choose to stick with the one-button mouse, you can hold down Ctrl while clicking to drop down the right-click menu.

Ahh thanks for clearing that up for me. I used a mac that had a single button and wasn't sure if I used a 2 or 3 button mouse if the other buttons would even do anything.

OMR ftw

Ya, I would really recommend NOT getting an Apple brand mouse if you buy another one. Macs can be cool if you just use your computer for media stuff, but gawd do their mice suck, even the fancy expensive ones. I really like my Microsoft Intellimouse. 5-button, scroll wheel, and very ergonomically designed. I think I spent $30 on it YEARS ago.

Microsoft software blows dead bears, but their hardware is usually very good. I agree with you a hundred per cent on the five button intellimouse. I've been using one on my Mac for at least five years now. Maybe longer, I can't remember. Thing cost like maybe thirty five bucks and hasn't given me a speck of trouble.

I used one for months when my PC died for unexplainable reasons. It was far more reliable than my PC ever was, and I loved it. I do know how to use one, but that was several months back and I can't picture how to right click off the top of my head.
So sorry.

That's only why a Mac can run Windows Vista better than an actual PC.
