well to start off ive been doing tons of research. right now im torn. i dont know what i should do.
i really like joshua's casing how to located here: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/565456/an/0/page/0 http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1597724/an/0/page/0
whats the best FC for this method? will a monotub like this one work? http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5276282#5276282
or since im new should i stick with the standard PF tek? then once ive done cakes a few times move up to casing.
what are some of the pros and cons when i comes to casing vs. cakes?
thanks in advance.

In my opinion you should get a feeling for the whole thing by starting with the PF-tek.
It's more or less idiot proof and therefore the way to go for most Newbies.
Casings normally increase the yields just a little, but not necessarily. Sometimes you have kick ass cakes and sometime lame ass casings.
Mono tubs and bulk techniques are a little more advanced than PF-Cakes but preferred by most experienced growers, since you increase your yields dramatically, due to the bigger substrate i.e more nutrients and more water.
Preparing a mono tub is definitely some work and since you should first check weather you fuck up with cakes or not, you should do them first.
The contamination risk is much higher when you use bulk substrate (therefore you should check with cakes first. Could be that you're home is mold infested and all efforts would probably be useless). You'd also need more sterility because you'll most likely use WBS or rye seeds that would need to be PC'd.
As I said, I'd try a few cakes before moving on.
Good luck

i also found these videos on youtube that really put its into context for those of us that are more visual learners.

Yeah, that's Roger Rabbits DVD and probably the best material around on cultivating mushrooms. Very easy to understand and only correct info.
