Prozac is an SSRI, it regulates the uptake of seratonin into your brain.

Quote:

Fluoxetine hydrochloride (Prozac) is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. Fluoxetine is approved for the treatment of clinical depression (including pediatric depression), obsessive-compulsive disorder (in both adult and pediatric populations), bulimia nervosa, panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.[1] Other indications include hypochondriasis and body dysmorphic disorder

Quote:

According to the manufacturer of Prozac brand of fluoxetine Eli Lilly, fluoxetine is contraindicated in individuals taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors, pimozide (Orap) or thioridazine (Mellaril).[9] The prescribing information recommends that the treatment of the patients with liver impairment "must be approached with caution". The elimination of fluoxetine and its metabolite norfluoxetine is about twice slower in these patients, resulting in the proportionate increase of exposure to the drug.[9]

Among the common adverse effects associated with fluoxetine and listed in the prescribing information, the effects with the greatest difference from placebo are nausea (22% vs 9% for placebo), insomnia (19% vs 10% for placebo), somnolence (12% vs 5% for placebo), anorexia (10% vs 3% for placebo), anxiety (12% vs 6% for placebo), nervousness (13% vs 8% for placebo), asthenia (11% vs 6% for placebo) and tremor (9% vs 2% for placebo). Those that most often resulted in interruption of the treatment were anxiety, insomnia, and nervousness (1-2% each), and in pediatric trials—mania (2%).[9]

In addition, rash or urticaria, sometimes serious, was observed in 7% patients in clinical trials; one-third of these cases resulted in discontinuation of the treatment. Postmarketing reports note several cases of complications developed in patients with rash. The symptoms included vasculitis and lupus-like syndrome. Death has been reported to occur in association with these systemic events.[9]

It's not recreational...if that's what you asking

It takes about 2 weeks of daily dosing to build up working doses in the brain. Even once that happens, it doesn't exactly make you "happy" so much as "not sad". They don't make much of a distinction in the pharmaceutical industry, but believe me there is

Oh i see. I once had some TRIPTOPHANE tablet. It had a calming but clear brain functioning effect. It said that it worked on the seratonin level in the brain.

Al this because my doc suggested i might try prozac because i'm having stomach upsets (my stomach tested ok at the RX btw) probably due to stress and depression. Isn't it funny that should happen 6 weeks after i stop weed and shrooms?

Hey thanks for the very usefull information. Thumbs up to you guys at the shroomery.

I would never go on prescription SSRIs personally, and IMO if you do it should be as a last resort.
Try 5-HTP for your depression

Well yes. But it's a kind of stomach reflux thing due to tension and nervousness. And that's why he suggested. I think he also saw that i am feeling a bit low these days. Maybe cause i stopped drugs recently.

Hey and thanks for the apple cider vinegar advice. I'll give that a try. Cheers.

Yeah man no prob...
I had a stomach problem a few months back that no doctor could diagnose (i think I saw 2 or three). They just didn't know what it was...

I started reading up on Apple cider vinegar on the internet, and decided to try some, so i went to my local health food store. You can get a big bottle for around $5-6, and it'll last a good while.
It has to be raw and organic, though... otherwise all of the beneficial enzymes are destroyed in the heating and processing.

Anyway, drinking a couple of tbsp of ACV mixed in water (with some raw honey as well) three times a day completely cured my stomach in a couple days.

Hope you find what works for you!
Peace :hippie:

i love raw honey man i eat it every day
heres some uses:
Here are some more ways to utilize the healing power of honey:

BURNS - Apply freely over burns. It cools, removes pain and aids fast healing without scarring. Apart from being a salve and an antibiotic, bacteria simply cannot survive in honey.

BED WETTING - A teaspoon of honey before bed aids water retention and calms fears in children.

INSOMNIA - A dessertspoon of honey in a mug of warm milk aids sleep and works wonders.

HYPERACTIVITY - Replace all use of white sugar with honey. White sugar is highly stimulating with no food qualities. Honey provides the energy without the "spike."

NASAL CONGESTION - Place a dessertspoon of honey in a basin of water and inhale fumes after covering your head with a towel over the basin. Very effective!

FATIGUE - Dissolve a dessertspoon of honey in warm water or quarter honey balance of water in a jug and keep in the fridge. Honey is primarily fructose and glucose, so it's quickly absorbed by the digestive system. Honey is a unique natural stabilizer: Ancient Greek athletes took honey for stamina before competing and as a reviver after competition.

FACIAL DEEP CLEANSER - Mix honey with an equal quantity of oatmeal, and apply as a face pack. Leave on for half an hour, then wash it off. Great as a deep cleanser for acne and other unwanted blemishes.

POOR DIGESTION - Mix honey with an equal quantity of apple cider vinegar and dilute to taste with water. This is also wonderful for the joints – and promotes weight loss.

HAIR CONDITIONER - Mix honey with an equal quantity of olive oil, cover head with a warm tower for half an hour then shampoo off. Feeds hair and scalp. Your hair will never look or feel better!

SORE THROATS - Let a teaspoon of honey melt in the back of the mouth and trickle down the throat. Eases inflamed raw tissues.

FOR STRESS - Honey in water is a stabilizer, calming highs and raising lows. Use approximately 25 percent honey to water.

ANEMIA - Honey is the best blood enricher by raising corpuscle content. The darker the honey, the more minerals it contains.

FOOD PRESERVATIVE – If you replace the sugar in cake and cookie recipes with honey, they'll stay fresher longer due to honey's natural antibacterial properties. Reduce liquids in the mixture by about one-fifth to allow for the moisture present in the in honey.

BABY'S BOTTLE - Four teaspoons of honey to a baby's bottle of water is an excellent pacifier and multivitamin additive. If the baby's motions are too liquid, then reduce the honey by half a teaspoon; if too solid increase by half a teaspoon. (Caution: Don't give raw honey to babies under 1 year old; it's just too rich.) For teething, honey rubbed on a baby's gums is also a mild sedative and anesthetic.

OSTEOPOROSIS – Research has shown that a teaspoon of honey per day aids calcium utilization and prevents osteoporosis – probably not a bad idea for anyone over 50.

LONGEVITY - The most long-lived people in the world are all regular users of honey. An interesting fact, yet to be explained, is that beekeepers suffer less from cancer and arthritis than any other occupational group worldwide.

MIGRAINE - Use a dessertspoon of honey dissolved in half a glass of warm water. Sip at the start of a migraine attack, and, if necessary, repeat after another 20 minutes.

CONJUNCTIVITIS - Dissolve honey in an equal quantity of warm water. When cooled, apply as a lotion or eye bath.

COUGH MIXTURE – Combine 6 ounces (170 grams) liquid honey, 2 ounces (55 grams) glycerin and the juice of two lemons. Mix well. Bottle and cork firmly, and use as required.

Raw honey may become granulated, as some does after a week and another maybe only after several years. If the granulations bother you, simply place the honey into a pan of hot water (not boiling) and let it stand until becoming liquid again.

I don't know if this is okay to mention, but it probably is right? No shroomery sponsor sells stuff like this I guess...
but I'd order it online from Swansons Vitamins. They usually have the best prices on supplements and they're all real high quality.

I get my 5-htp at walgreens.

And I'd avoid SSRIs if I were you, Ahimsa. I was on Paxil for a few months, and Zoloft for a few months also. Both just eliminated not just sadness, but pretty much all of my emotions. So unless you don't like to feel human, I'd stay away from that stuff.

It also takes a while to get off them. As in several weeks. If you stop too quickly your brain will feel like its being shocked every five minutes, which isn't really painful, just EXTREMELY annoying.

This works with or without honey, the active factor is the steam, honey would simply make it smell nice and sweet while you inhale steam

that sounds like a real mess, honestly. Greasy AND sticky? I'd honestly prefer mud

honey's antibacterial properties relate to its low water content and high concentration of solutes that are hostile to single-cell organisms, this becomes entirely void after you've used the honey to bake or such, as you've completely changed that

I doubt the efficacy of honey to alleviate a true migraine, something prescription medications had at one point struggled greatly to even lessen the symptoms of

olive oil is actually excellent for your hair.

"For brittle or overprocessed hair, Manhattan hair colorist Penny Errico-Nagar (Penred301@aol.com) recommends rinsing your hair after a shampoo with a solution of olive oil and egg (one beaten egg with 1/2 to 3/4 cup of olive oil) and leaving it on 30-45 minutes, covered with a plastic cap. She suggests weekly or monthly treatments, depending on the condition of your tresses.

To help thicken hair, Maurice Rodriguez, director of the Aveda Salon Spa, in Manhattan recommends soaking your locks in 1/2 to 3/4 cup of warm olive oil and wrapping them in a towel for 30 minutes. "

As far as getting on a daily 5-htp regiment, I believe it would cause your body to produce less natural 5-htp.

It blocks out mdma.... For about a month after you stop taking it. This is trie of all ssri meds zoloft, lexapro, paxil.

I heard that this type of med got rammed thru the FDA trials by big pharma lobbyist trickery, and they are only about .2% more effective than placebo in trials
