neither of the pics are mine. But this one is and it would be ready to start pinning if it were a species that didnt require casing

I cloned from biopsy and my mycelium sinks to the bottom, is this ok?
My solution is also very clear, I used Karo and distilled water.

Is clear solution bad? The myc seems to be growing well...

I've read clear solution is good, since you can spot contams easier.

But, not my experience, or do I know if it's a fact, just read it.

Karo LC's work 'ok', but you'll have better, fuller Mycellium in Dextrose LC's like the ones pictured above.

I've had Karo LC's work just fine though, and whether it's clear or a piss color, you'll be able to spot contams.

sounds good. I have never seen penicillin or other molds growing on lc's although I have had them growing on lc's. The only noticeable thing is the liquid turning milky/hazy. Besides that you always have to do a test jar once done.

How long from inoculation from biopsy till it's usable? (average time)

Depends.

With Karo LC's I've had it take a bit longer.

With Dextrose LC's, even when inoculating with a multi-spore solution, I've had them germinate and form a slightly thick cloud in 3-4 days.

If you use an already made LC to inoculate a sterile LC, times will be considerably reduced.

Only reason you want a clear LC is for the esthetic look. You have no way of spotting molds in an LC since they won't sporulate and mold mycelium is also white. Like Tahoe said, you need to grow it out to see. That is why people don't recommend doing LC from spore syringes.

Negative.

Molds do sporulate.

Particularly Trich. (Green Mold).

Green Mold starts off as white in color, and when it sporulates, it turns green. Stale/Still environments are where molds thrive (How much air do you think is moving through that LC Jar, hmm?).

Imagine how much harder (Not by much) it would be to detect molds if they were the same color as mycellium on an agar plate. They look slightly different in a lot of cases, while the mold finally shows a very noticeable trait.

EDIT: Also with molds, we say "Grow it out to see" to notice any discoloration, speed of growth, and type of growth of alleged contamination because contaminations can run undetected for a period of time. Things like sporulation "Turning Green", Stall in colonization, and certain mold-specific traits (Wispy hairlike growth of Gray Mold) give away mold to the untrained eye in a matter of time.
