Does anyone know if there is a way to tell if my substrate became too dry or to wet after steaming them? I dont want to open them up. I did do the pf-tek to the word with amounts and all of that. I am not able to tell if my jars are wet, the substrate looks dry, is this the way its supposed to look?

they should look the same as they did when you put them in. Maybe a little darker but the consistency should be the same. They did not get too dry while steaming. I am sure they are fine but your eagerness to open an uncolonized jar is what is going to cause failure
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

I hear all of you and appreciate the info. I am unable to find my camera so cant post any pics.
The reason Im a little worried is because I knocked 6 jars up on 02/04 and only one is showing growth. I figured I would still follow the tek for this round of jars, I knocked up 10 more earlier today and plan on doing another 10 tomorrow. I am a little worried I am going to waste 2 syringes by not having enough water.
Like you said though, since I stuck with the tek I should be alright. Ill wait it out and see what happens.
