cake turning blue after dunk?
    #802314 - 08/07/02 12:50 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I took my 2 cakes out the jars today after being dunked for like 13 hours. My first flush of my 2 cakes was really shitty. It was less than a gram But my cakes were really fucking dry. Anyway, when i took the cakes out today they looked really blue. is this normal?

Yes it's normal. Just handling the cake will bruise it and all of mine showed some blueing after dunks.

Peace,

Bop

Thanks for all the help you have given me. I have another question. I am growing PESA and my first flush from 2 cakes was like a gram or less. Will a dry cake make little mushrooms? And should i expect to get more from this flush? I am also thinking about just casing them with verm. I have one Verm casing going right now and it seems to be doing good.

The blueing is the bruising of the myc. network, this happens easily to dry cakes. Next time try cold dunking in the fridge for 10-20hrs. before every flush, including the first one. Try to handle cakes as little as possible. Colonization takes most of the available water from your cake. hope this helps you! Also mushrooms are 92% water so I would think you are expieriencing lack of water.

Perhaps low humidity? I have read of a tek using a small piece of a straw and inserting into the center of the top of cake and adding water in the straw to slowly soak into the cake. Casing I think will help retain moisture content also.

Bluing can be from lack of water and from bruising. Sounds like you may have bruised them, since dunking should have replaced the needed moisture. If it was a large flush, then the cake probally has dehydrated itself. bluhoney

cakes will alwayz give u smaller and lesser shrooms...if u want more,
casing is the way to go. The more substrates in ur casing, the bigger ur fruits will be..at least that waht was
told to me! Im doing cakes like u and have a few casings in the pinning chamber waiting for those desirable hypnal knots
to appear....and from 2 1/4pint cakes i got about 14 g, so im looking forward to waht the casings will give me

Blueing of the cakes is natural esp after harvesting the cakes. also after dunking. In a few days time the blueing
will go away , dont panic. remain calm. U'd turn blue too if u were in cold water for that long and if some1
pinched ur butt

Pesa's r fast colonizers arent they....
