I'd love to go if I could find someone to stay with, I wouldn't want to go by myself. I would have to do some more research though...

Congrats on the scholarship jellyfish.
I wish I could go to some sort of festival this summer, but I am just too poor and need to spend this entire summer working full time. The following summer shall be EPIC though.

I'm definitely going to burning man, at whatever cost. If you guys don't have anywhere to stay, I can hook you up with a camp, most likely the one I'll be staying with! I'm looking for a ride out to Oregon after burning man too, so this could be good
It's gonna be great this year, I'm creating a mini camp called the garden of earthly delights which will be very pleasurable.

burning man is something i plan on doing at some point for sure. whats this about a scholarship? It's always seemed to be a really big experience...so many creative people and things to seeand be a part of . I'm also hoping that it's not plagued with too many people who are like " BURNING MAN YEAAHHHH BREAK OUT THE KEGGG" frat-boy spring break types.

Burning Man gives out many scholarship discount tickets, go to the website and check it out. I think you have to write an essay and answer some questions, or something. The sooner you do it the better the chance of getting one.
I never saw any of these frat types that people speak of (I'm sure there are some, but easily avoided).
I hear there's even a cap on how many people can be there this year.
It's just.......paradise..... a dream

Who else is going to burning man?! We should have a burning man shroomery gathering! I'll create a HUUUUGE shroomery banner so it'd be easy to find for everyone.
Who's with me?!
We can form our own shroomery bicycle gang, and have a scavenger hunt for psychoactive substances hahaha.
I'm gonna bring lots of "goodies" this year!

If any of you decide to go, let me know! I'm willing to hang out with any of you on the playa. I'm not a shy person really, and am easy to get along with, unless I'm really tripped out or something, but even then!
If enough people want to meet up, I will create a huge shroomery banner at my camp or somewhere, so that we can all somehow meet up. I read somewhere there's a gathering forum, but I'm guessing you have to have a certain number of posts to see it (am I right?), which makes sense.
I'll keep this thread alive until then! I really want to meet a lot of people this year, last year I mostly just hung out with my numerous friends.

You're right learning_byte, center camp would probably work well. I could hold up a shroomery sign at the designated time & spot so that we can all meet up! I'll be wearing really colorful clothes which will be hard to miss unless you're on lots of acid, then it might be like camouflage for me hahaha

How the fuck did you get a 95 dollar ticket.... I was stoked to get a 145 dollar low income ticket.. I expected that the scholarship ones you had to jump through some huge number of hoops and end up doing work or something...
95 dollars...jesus, i want one.
Oh, I'll be there, all week and longer hopefully. I could be convinced to meet you peoples

Futher, I think that a bunch of people meeting up at center camp wearing bright clothing would be anything -but- easy to distinguish...
Everyone is wearing bright clothes! or none, or few or some combination therein.
If you wanted to really stick out you'd all meet up wearing a suit and tie, maybe a coffee and lots of watch checking to make sure you don't miss the 3 o'clock meeting.

We'll make the gathering work! My outfit is unmistakable, and I'll also make a HUGE shroomery sign. This is gonna be wicked..

Should be interesting. I've never been, but this year I am coming really close to being 100% set.
I really want to build a structure for my camp, but that shoots the cost and preparation way up :/

For all your Burning Man questions:

Several of my friends have gone multiple times, but I haven't been yet. I think that the noise level & desert atmosphere would be too much for me. When they hold it at the Oregon Coast, I'm there!

Quote:
This year Burning Man will stand atop an obelisk. This imposing monument, emblazoned with the images of flags, will represent the countries of the world. Ranging from Canada to Chad, from Brazil to Burundi, from Vatican City to the Republic of China, these emblems will shine brightly in the night, gleaming like illuminated gems that stud a giant jewel box. A double-helix, like a strand of DNA, will form a staircase. Twining around the axis of this tower, it will spiral through a series of viewing platforms. The topmost tier will stand directly underneath the Burning Man.
Son, look, we might be in the desert, but we are still civilized people, and civilized people put up arbitrary boundaries that they will fight to the death to protect. – Hal speaking to Dewey, Malcolm in The Middle Anyone embarking on this path will encounter hundreds of fellow participants – many of whom come to Black Rock City from around the world. Indeed, in order to discover the flag of any particular county amid this welter of imagery, it will be necessary to inspect the flags of many other nations. Each of these may be imagined as a dream no less radiant or precious than the rest. Each country is a source of culture and identity; yet each may also be regarded as a glimmering illusion: a sovereign artifact, an arbitrary puzzle piece, an isolated fragment on a map.
You making haste on decay: not blameworthy; life is good, be it stubbornly long or suddenly A mortal splendor: meteors are not needed less than mountains: shine, perishing republic. – Robinson Jeffers, Shine Perishing Republic The 20th Century was, in many ways, the American century. At the close of World War II, the government of the United States created an enduring peace with its opponents that was almost without precedent. It embodied the ideals on which America was founded: democracy, equality, freedom and opportunity – a vision of unbounded hope for an improving future. It seemed natural for Americans to think their country was a master model for the world.
This post-war period also produced an unprecedented prosperity. America now hovered at the apex of its worldly fortunes. Never before had wealth been so broadly distributed throughout society. For many people – though, most certainly, not all – this was the era of what came to be called the American dream. Home ownership, a well paid job, a college education, the prospect of security in one's old age: these blessings beckoned to a growing middle class.
The past does not repeat itself, but sometimes it rhymes. – Mark Twain Today, Americans appear to live amid the tarnished squalor of a second Gilded Age. By nearly every measure, America has become a more unequal society. A mere one percent of the population now controls a third of the nation's wealth. Education, health care and home ownership – these now escape the reach of those who thought they were the middle class. Forty years of heedless mass-consumption have turned dreams into delusions. America's awash in debt. Embroiled in a wayward war, its citizens are told to shop.
Many feel that the United States is now adrift. Its allies, once so numerous, begin to fall away and chart an independent course. Its citizens, more tellingly, have lost their faith in progress. Polls indicate they now believe their children can't expect a better future. They distrust the institutions of government, of finance, and the corrupting power of large corporations. And yet, the native traits of any culture are deep-rooted. Freedom, opportunity, inventiveness, the power to transform oneself: these values and a love of self-expression still endure.
Perhaps, it's time Americans began to face themselves. Maybe, it's also time that they began to listen to other countries of the world. All of us are immigrants to Black Rock City. What can we dream America to be? As always, any work of art by anyone, regardless of our theme, is welcome at the Burning Man event. If you are planning to do fire art or wish to install a work of art on the open playa, please see our Art Guidelines for more information.

Alright. I'm able to access the Gathering and Travel forum now, so I created a post for the shroomery burning man 2008 gathering!
I'm guessing tons of shroomerites are gonna be there this year, this could be a lot of fun!
Let's get a good idea of how we want to arrange this and who will be there.
100% gaurantee that if you show up, I will smoke you up!!!
