too long colonization time could be deleterious?

i got a 20 days old reishi spawn. i shake the jar and the inner grain are not colonized, looks musty and shows very poor grown in sawdust. too long colonization could damage mycelium?

yes!

i believe your strain isn't a good one or you wrong something in the grain procedure. Are the kernels quite moistened? have you incubated this jar where?

the common error is to use a poor strain. If you have start from spores, it happens, if you've started from a wedge it can be too much old or too much expanded, if you started from a pure culture you need to contact the vendor or undestand if you wrong something.

Agreed, something is wrong. Reishi is one of the fastest colonizers of any species. 5 pound substrate blocks are usually fully colonized in a week. When grain is inoculated with an agar wedge, full colonization is usually within five to seven days as well.
