The Power of Christ

I am reading a WWII history book about the battles on Guadalcanal.
Before the island had any significance as an airstrip, it was home to a copra plantation, a few thousand natives and a small number of French Marist missionaries(religious sect devoted to Mary) who were there to convert the heathens. There was one priest and a dozen nuns.
When the Japanese invaded in 1942, the missionaries were told to evacuate. The priest in charge declined, replying, "The Power of Christ shall protect us."
Naturally, the brutal Nipponese slaughtered them all without a second thought.
Amen.

...They're not Marists. They're Marianists. They're not Christians, they're Catholics. And, Hooray for killing people?

And, as such. They're going to heaven, regardless of how brutally they were murdered. They died in the name of Christ, and to them, that meant that they had the same serenity in death that the REAL man, Jesus the Christ, had when he died for the sins of his peers in his time. Believe what you want, heaven or hell's existence that is, but Jesus was the single most influential character in the history of this planet (AD and BC...). The proper term for what they were is "Martyrs". Have nice day, yakshemash.

The orient would not agree.
And if it is true I cannot think of a sadder commentary on the human race.

Jesus was a solar Deity. A reference to the sun. And a mushroom, imo. Christ is something different. An anointing. In my mind with the magical substance of course. Its the same old story.

Martyrs die for beliefs. These guys did just that. For their belief, Jesus did and does care. For those people, they're sitting in heaven with Jesus right now. To you, Jesus wasn't son of God, so now they're just dead. I think a person's fate is what one's last belief is before dieing, which is then passed on to everyone else when they hear of that person's death. Thus, they're with Jesus in heaven.
And no, the Orient would not agree, however do they not generally operate (at least in the business worls) on the basis that this year is the 2008th year after the believed birth of Jesus the Christ?
The Chinese, and perhaps other Asians, do not have a belief in God or any higher power. They make up about 1/3 of the world's population. The Europeans' belief in religion is dieing quickly, as are Americans'. South and Central Americans' belief in Jesus and Mary (Lady of Guadelupe) is pretty strong. But in the past 1,978 years, the most deaths for purpose is the purpose of Religion, and predominant religion in those past so many years is Christianity (throughout the world) in some form......
As for the human race..."we're only going to die from our own arrogance. That's why we might as well take our time." Humans are ignorant, and have been for most of those 2000- years. So they fight for what someone else tells them is the truth, without finding the truth for themselves. Quite sad indeed. Toolbags.
Jah Bless

Just good common (uncommon) sense.
