I have two Lc'c now... one of them has alot of mycelium and the other not so much... i have 20 rye quart jars to knock up tonight....
The one Lc with alot of mycelium is in a baby bottle. the nipple which is inverted into the bottle seems to have a thread of mycelium from the nipple hole where i inoculated well this thread has a color to it and nothing else in the bottle has any color but white mycelium ... my concerns are that this thread with color which to me is just dark not a real particular color looks like an imbilicol cord it starts from the nipple hole and hangs done into the lc the nipple is actually submerged into the lc water itself.. is any of this white stuff mycelium or is it all contams???

lol sounds weird, u should test the LCs did you already make the rye up? dont use that much if you not sure if its contamed or you'll waste alot of rye and time and effot in prepareing it. juts do a few of each LC and see what happens then use the better 1

maybe thats the better idea... lol.. but how long can rye jars that are ready to be inoculated last? i imagine as long as i keep the foil on and in a box or sterile spot would be okay for a few days right? i have 20 rye jars... i will use my other lc that is good with 10 jars and the questionable one i will use 1 jar and if it is okay then good if not then i have 9 rye jars left...
its weird though cause the thread im speaking of that is dark colored is only at the nipple nothing else but the mycelium in there is not thread like its just clouds...

mabey its dryed up myc that bruised is it out of the LC, you could try and put the rye jars in the fridge to keep them good rather than in room temp air

ohhh wait... i held the baby bottle to the light and i see slight pink in the thread but no where else.. this baby bottle has been in the fridge for days now... i was thinking i would just remove the nipple and hope that whole thread comes out with it and the stuff that is at the very bottom will be good as it looks like it hasnt made contact with the thread at the top... or is what i think is mycelium at the bottom really contam? but it is white and not colored...

got an idea... what if i use my one good lc.. toss the other... inocculate 10 jars.. then with the other ten i could leave the foil on and put all 10 in a rubbermaid bin spray the heck out of it with lysol and attach lid and then place in the fridge until i get another lc started??? how long do you think i will have before the jars are not usable? it may take a week for the new lc to be ready
