Libertarianism looks better every day... Legislater tries to ban faux testicals for trucks (VA)

Okay, now even if you dislike these things (which I do, but suspect I'd find more disagreement w/ the driver's of these vehicles) how the hell can you justify it?
And this story says a daughter wondered what they were... well, if she's never seen an animal before, I guess you're free to lie to her if it makes you feel better. But better put diapers on those dogs. A girlfriend of mine grew up in a farming community, and I can guarentee she knew what testicals were from a young age... and also how to castrate animals and all sorts of vile things. She doesn't seem to be stunted by this knowledge.
Really though, when do we learn to live and let live? This is stupid. If anything could make me tape some balls on my vehicle, a bill like this is it.
---- http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2684454.html
Testicles face snip
A controversial Virginia lawmaker is trying to introduce new legislation to ban rubber testicles from being fitted to the back of trucks.
Rubber testicles being fitted to the back of a truck /PA pics.
Lionel Spruill, known for his failed attempt in 2005 to ban baggy pants, (my emphasis) says the motivation for his latest idea came from a constituent.
The man complained that he had been left speechless when his six-year-old daughter spotted a pair and asked him what they were.
Mr Spruill agreed to act: "I said, 'Sir, I'm going to be the laughing stock, but I'm going to do it'," he told the Virginian-Pilot.
Truck drivers who sport fake testicles on the back of their vehicles would risk a $250 fine under his proposal.
"They're offensive to some folks," said Mr Spruill, a Chesapeake Democrat. "It's OK to express yourself, but citizens have the right not to be subjected to something vulgar."
Spruill said he became concerned when he learned that the truck accessories had got larger as their popularity had increased.
"How big are they going to go?" he said. "When will it stop?"
But John Saller, owner of bullsballs.com, laughed off Mr Spruill's campaign. He said he sold several hundred thousand last year, ranging in size from two-and-a-half to 10 inches.
"It's a novelty. It's funny. It doesn't have anything to do with being macho," he insisted.

Apparently this legislater is black, which was surprising to me. I expected some good old boy poindexter or fatty republican guy trying to pass this stuff, while they drink whisky and beat the wife in their upper-middle class home... guess that's my own internal prejudices showing themselves again.
Here's a picture of the esteemed representative of the people of the great commonwealth. You can leave your comments here as well without registration or email address. Let the peeps know what you think.

A lot of things are offensive to some folks, but that doesn't give the government the right to outlaw them. If we outlaw everything that some people find offensive, there would be nothing legal left. I really wish the founding fathers had required at least average intelligence or better to be a requirement for holding public office.

It's genatalia, on a truck.... *shrugs*
When I see them, I just feel embarassed for ther person driving because they obviously have not idea how stupid people think they are....
But, the other day, I saw a truck that had two 3" Galvenized Threaded Nuts (the counterpart of bolts) hanging from their bumper on a cable. That was crafty...
Whenever my wife sees bumpernuts, she always says.. "I wanna big pink pussy for my bumper"

Clever... though plastic nuts (the counterpart of plastic bolts) would probably be safer.

Do they not have these in the land of windmills?
We've got plenty of good old boys sportin a pair around here... not too common, but still something you see.
Then again, we're the land of huge trucks with one driver and no cargo...

Besides teh crazy accent, what is that, where all his words are slurred, stroke?
It doesn't seem like he has quite mastered talking coherently (even if I could understand him).

just thought i would let you guys know that there are retards with voting power out there. as of this past week, voters of riviera beach(45 mins south of me) voted to BAN the showing of underwear out of your pants, i believe this is the same thing that this guy was working on. if your underwear are hanging out of your underwear and they are visible, it is punishable by fine first and second offense, and i believe the third time you can be arrested.
apparently the old fucks down here have nothing better to do with their time.

yeah, I hate those proposed laws.
indecent exposure is allready a crime
now showing undergarments are?
What is the definition? ANything under your pants? So if you where two sets of underwear, and only the first is visible, that's a crime? And the basketball team that tears of their warmups, exposing the shorts underneath, is guilty?
And the folks who wear their boxers high, above their pantsline, are guilty when this is visible? But the person that wears no underwear, and exposes his bare back, the same skin covered by the boxers in the previous case, is not guilty? Who is more indecent?
Is a woman wearing a swimming suit that pokes out of her pants guilty? What about when she takes the pants off, leaving only the bikinii bottom, is she guilty then?
What about the guy wearing the swimming trunks, baggy, that are exposed above the sweatpants, guilty? How about when he takes the sweatpants off, no longer guilty?
Its not a crime to swim in your boxers, or your panties (which are pretty much bikini bottoms anyways) so what is the difference?
The definitions are problematic. The reductions are absurd. Harbingers of a bad law.
Those showing genitals and ass can allready be prosecuted. Those showing undergarments don't need to be.

so I guess my previous examples are salient...
looks like the the person wearing a swimsuit that is exposed over sweatpants is breaking the law untill they remove the sweatpants.
And a woman wearing a towel around her that exposes her bikini bottoms is breaking the law, untill she removes the towel, exposing more.. then she's ok. Stupid
THats not a twisting, that appears to be the law ( I couldn't find the text anywhere... great news reporting...)
Seems like its alot of old jackasses that supported this one...

I would start wearing an extra pair of boxers outside my pants and see where things go. It amazes me the extent idiots will go to legislate their moral values upon others. I am no less offended by the concept of this law than they would be at a law that requires people to show their underwear in public. Why should their moral value of no underwear seen in public be any more valid than my moral value of underwear must be seen in public (to prove that it is being worn, of course).
The unintended consequence of this law... people will stop wearing underwear 'cause you cant be arrested for showing underwear if you aren't wearing any.
On a side note, I wonder how these morons function walking through a department store seeing mannequins displaying the stores selection of clothes, including... *gasp* underwear.
edit:
Quote:

Exactly! Wear a pair of briefs as underwear, then a pair of boxers to hang out, with jeans over those. Are the boxers underwear, or a form of expression with respect to this stupid law?

I wish they had a glossary that defined what the terms mean. What does "left in transportation" mean? Someone left the bill in the subway? Someone sent it to the transportation committee? The trans. Com. lost it? who knows. Real informative website.

This goes back to my claim that lawmakers have too much time on their hands. They need to feel important in order to justify the huge salaries they have given themselves, thus they spend their time passing stupid laws. We need to change it so that all laws expire after a few years. This would give the lawmakers some busy work so that they feel important while the rest of us can get on with living our lives.

That's the best idea I've heard in a long time. However they'd just end up passing an omnibus bill (everything in one bill) of the same laws plus they'd tack on and slip in a bunch of new ones, plus some pork-barrel shit too. No lawmaker could ever risk voting against the omnibus+pork bill or they'd be accused of being anarchists.

The bill clearly refers to representations of "human genitalia" several times. If it were to pass a fun thing to do would be to attach something that is clearly an animal penis (ie, a dog's "red-rocket" penis) to the testicles. If I lived in Virginia I would for sure do this.

Why wouldn't you?
I think it's pretty funny myself. I like Ziggen's idea... Just make them representations of animal genitalia. In fact the sheer size of them should show that they are representations of large animal genitalia. You could make and package them as a "new version" "fully legal to display" "donkey balls", etc..

More important: who am I to tell you how you can or cannot decorate your truck? Why are my sensitive moral values more important than your freedom of expression?
