difference between rye grain moisture content and misting/watering
    #8017874 - 02/13/08 02:11 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Okay i didnt know how to label this with a title but i was just thinking since i am pcing jars right now... and i noticed either i pced too long which i doubt cause i only pc 45 minutes at 15 psi..

i am on my third pc batch today and i just checked two batches from earlier this morning and notice some rye was looking either dried out or cooked... now i know the water content is probably off but what does that matter once we case everything and mist/water anyways isnt that putting back water content lost during pcing???

If there was tin foil over the tops of the jars, then there was no water loss during PC. That's just how rye looks mang.

You do know you need to colonize the grain before casing, right?

no, you just mix it all up in a tub, put some dirt over it and then spray it with spores
