Jogging hurts

So.. As training for my trip to South America, ive started jogging (today was day 2, optimistic about keeping it up 5 days a week.)
Day 2 was much easier than day 1, and i could see going a few blocks more on day 3.
However - i am in Pain! My entire body feels strain, my back is tense, and my abs/ribs hurt to the touch. My legs are especially tense and painful when i turn my ankles. Directly after the run, my knees had a "pulling" sensation in them...
I just want to know if this is normal.. I did a few stretches which i held out before the run, and did a cool down brisk walk after and a light run home.
This will go away in time, correct? Anything to worry about? How to avoid this?
-------------------- GO OUTSIDE.

Sounds like your jogging muscles are not used to the activity. I get that all-over hurting feeling whenever I start exercising after being off for a while.
It should go away in a few days if that's what it is.

you're overreacting. that's very normal.
i started jogging about a year ago. if you're ever in pain, don't go running that day and just give your body a breather. when you feel good, then go running again. it will get to the point where you are no longer in pain or it rarely happens.

Yeah, thats what i figured.
It feels better to walk it off all day, then to let the tenseness gather in areas while stationary.

what can you do about shin splints? do they go away if you just tough it out and continue your running regiment?
