new update on XP
    #8017234 - 02/13/08 11:43 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Just yesterday there was a routine update on my computer. Also on my laptop.

Both machines run windows XP. Now it seems that for no good reason my computer bogs down for like 15-30 seconds. The mouse jumps around, its hard to select things. Programs don't want to load. This isn't constant, just random short bursts of slowness.

Anyone download this update and have a similar experience? I know it only happened yesterday, i'm just wondering because it occurred on both my laptop and desktop and i haven't installed any programs on either.

As a second note, do you think this is a clandestine effort to force us XP users to give it up for vista?

Can't say I noticed this problem on any of my computers. You could narrow it down by uninstalling the updates one by one from Add / Remove programs (check 'show updates' or hit Alt-D). Put them back when you're done though, they address security vulnerabilities so they're kind of important. The ones to uninstall are Windows hotfixes KB943055 & KB946026 and IE7 hotfix KB944533.

I've been having exactly the same symptoms you described. I think my update was downloaded about a week ago, but it seems that once or twice a day my computer gets unbearably slow for about 30 seconds to a minute.

Yay microsoft!

Fine for me. In fact I could say it's improved a tiny bit.
