Should I keep calling this potential employer every week?
    #8016961 - 02/13/08 10:25 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I had an interview at this place that I'd really like a job at. She told me that it would be a few weeks before they'd hire someone. So I called back last week, and she told me the same thing, that it'll be a few weeks before they'll know who will get the position. Should I call back again, or just wait until she calls me? I don't want to be annoying but I really want to show that I want the job.

I wouldn't check in every week like clockwork. That'll get annoying. But checking in a couple of times spread out over the next couple of weeks wouldn't be bad I guess.

Like clockwork meaning the same day, same time every week.

You already have shown interest in the job with the first call back. Since she said it'd be a few weeks before a decision was made, I'd give it two weeks myself.

Having called once is enough.  Maybe call again in a few weeks if you don't hear from them just to see if they hired someone else.

Persistent calling won't get anybody a job. They already know you want it. We've had applicants who keep checking in, but it definitely doesn't improve their chances.  We have the resume, we remember the interview, we'll hire based on that.  When someone keeps calling the only reaction I have is one of annoyance.

You've done all you can do, just sit tight.

Once is definitely plenty, just to check. Although to be honest I was working a great job for a few months based on the fact that there was a communication error.

Basically the interviewer wanted someone else to come in but I was giving a call to see how the interview went and whether or not they decided on who got the position. The dumb-but oh so gorgeous receptionist thought I was the person they wanted so she told me to come in, they figured it out after I got down there but I convinced them to give me a shot and after seeing how quickly I was able to pick it up they asked me to stay.

I got my AWESOME job by calling every week, often twice a week.
I was curtious, professional, and brief. By the time the job opened, everyone in the office knew who i was, and the head hiring guy was so happy to give me a job that he even mentioned my phone calls every tuesday at 12:45 pm ( 15 minutes after his lunch break) would be missed. I am now his boss
