Do you split them at all or anything, or throw them in there whole?

I think it would be fine to split them or quarter them, I'd imagine it would depend on the texture of the fruit that you put in it.

Do some research before you use cranberries, they have something in them that inhibits yeast from budding, you will probably want to put them in later in the process if possible. I found out the hard way I made some apple cranberry wine and it stalled out, the yeast doesn't bud so what you start with is what you have and the yeast dies of old age. I added some more yeast to finish the fermentation.

Edit: Eh, I could be wrong I couldn't find anything with a google search.

Beers have a lower alcohol than wine for the most part, so you may get away with it by starting with more yeast.

Just read a couple recipes, it just seems like people add them 2 minutes before end of boil, but no other changes to normal process.

Yeah, I looked at some recipes too, doesn't look like it matters when you're making beer.
