Hey, here's one for the conspiracy theorists.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released on June 1st, 1967.
On June 17th, Time runs a story with Paul talking about having been using LSD. He does a television news interview on the subject on the 19th. He's very low-key for sure, but that's not the point.
-------------------- Q: We wanted to see if you had the ability to expand your mind and your horizons... and for one brief moment, you did. PICARD: When I realized the paradox... Q: Exactly. For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you'd never considered. That's the exploration that awaits you...not mapping stars and studying nebulae... but charting the unknowable possibilities of existence. To carry yourself forward and experience myriad things is delusion. That myriad things come forth and experience themselves is awakening. -Dogen Zenji

"there is no conclusive evidence one way or the other"
...except for the countless interviews and written admissions from mccartney, lennon, harrison and ringo.
All *any* of us have (as far as fact/opinion go) is the word straight from their mouth and nothing more.
I have structured an opinion based upon the facts that have been presented to me by the writers themselves.
So i guess we agree to disagree, truely our arguement is fundementally one of semantics.

According to this article, McCartney has stated in an interview that "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was about LSD...even though previously he had said otherwise...so who knows...

But I don't think any band could cause any mass interest in any drug or anything for that matter with the exception of interest in their own music...

The Beatles were part of CIA mass mind control experiments.
Also, In ancient Egypt, Set (Satan) was also called Pep.
Many references to Pep like Sgt. Pepper and Dr. Pepper are veiled satanism.
Seriously?
First of all, I think you're giving the beatles a little too much credit.
Second, why would the CIA wan us to worship satan?
If you were being sarcastic, sorry.

their message was love
but they were definitely a psychedelic fountain at one point and were pushing ideas through an entirely new paradigm
we take for granted that lsd has been around for a while... you have try to put yourself in their shoes a bit... lsd was new. the possibilities, endless.

It was twenty years ago today, seargent Pepper taught the band to play
Sgt. Pepper was released 20 years after Aleister Crowley died.

If this song doesnt make you overwhelmed or uneasy while on acid.. then you probably didnt have acid.
I agree with the poster.. but then again somethings weird out certain people, othe rthings dont..
people who are more in tune with drugs & music, might notice something that someone less open minded would pick upo.. idk its different with everyone..
But i think in the 60's The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, ect.. they all knew what acid did & they added that LAYER/aspect to the music.. thats what made it psy music!

No Beatles music made me overwhelmed or uneasy when I was on acid. I always felt that there was an underlying feeling of good intentions from The Beatles. They made me feel safe. I always thought of them as wholesome, but at the same time, edgier than anyone. Perfect combo for acid music.

I think I know exactly what you mean. The same way the Simpsons was used for a similar purpose. To keep people... docile. They do control the media after all. Don't you wonder why so many shitty fucking bands exist and are so popular. And why do people like mindless drivel? Because they've been programmed that way. Although I think the Beatles is inherently good natured and I LOVE a lot of their music, they were definitely a tool in a part of the process. In short, I think they started out with pure intentions and became amazingly popular and got twisted by the system like has happened with a lot of bands. When you can captivate the hearts and minds of millions of people and send a message that resonates with them on many levels, the bad people want to take advantage of that. Fuckers. Always trying to mess with a good thing.
But if anyone can say songs like Yellow Submarine and Strawberry Fields weren't influenced by some fools tripping balls with a straight face, I would laugh.

word haha yea both songs are so trippy just in the way they sound tripping, you can tell when its the drug distorting things & you can tell when certain sounds are being heard that werent before tripping..
