Beautiful. It is amazing to me to see pines like that growing in such a tropical environmetn. Probably great mushroom habitat in the rainy season. Well, looks like you are keeping busy and interested with all the insect and flower life in the area. Hope you have a most excellent stay in Nicaragua!

No one noticed what this plant was? Chalice Vine! solandra grandiflora
That main use of that plant in mexico is for hallucinogenic purposes with a tea made from the branches. They contain Tropane(s), hyoscyamine, scololamine, nortopine, tropine, cuscohygrine, and a few other alkaloids. This is one strong puppy.
I love these nightshades because they are easy to enjoy without poisoning yourself like other Datura related plants.
Anyway you can get me some seeds or cuttings?

-nicaragua is a unique contry this a re the most high part of the country in the top of the tomabu mountains the altitute is almost 2000 msnm, meter above sea level , the last distribution of pine find his souther range in nicaragua , some pine get into sea level but i have not visit that places are in the atlantic coast of nicaragua ,in those places the pine are a sea level and mostly pinus caribea what is unique is that form many type of ecotones ,with mangrove and with tropical ever green forest is the only place in the world that pine get more thAn 3000mm of rain imaging the mushrooms there men , here is in the centralpart near the city of Esteli. the pines around here are pinus ayacahuite and pinus cembroides species, not caribea around here .thank you landsnorkerl iam having the best time of mi life , this travel will change my life for good , maybe you can join me in the future ..

As usual, great stuff.
Your butterfly is an Io moth, or at least something that looks really similar.
Happy mushrooming!
