Emerson, Lake & Palmer
    #8014702 - 02/12/08 07:49 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Does anyone listen to their stuff?

They have some of the trippiest, most psychedelic songs I've heard.  Amazing musicianship as well.

Listening to their song Tarkus right now.  It goes on for 20+ minutes but it's pretty epic as far as epic songs go.

:urinate:

Last time I listened to Trilogy must have been 2-3 years ago. The album already has a new light shed on it for me. :shineon:

I don't have Trilogy yet. I'll probably end up getting it though since i like all their other stuff. I only have their self-titled album, Tarkus, and Brain Salad Surgery. Their self-titled album kicks so much ass though. So many good solos and i really like them lyrically as well. I'm kind of going through a sort of Jazz fusion phase right now and i've been listening to a lot of rock bands that have sort of a more jazzy, complex format to their music.

Finally someone who shares my love of ELP. "Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends" is the best CD ever. YOU have to listen to their LIVE stuff. Their studio is too edited. You have to get their raw live music. LIVE ELP > Studio

Nice to see some ELP fans. 'Tarkus' and 'Karn Evil 9' are epic. 'Trilogy' is awesome. 'Knife Edge' is pretty bitchin also. Can't really go wrong with them.

yeah, supposedly it was going to be his next big project after "the experience" but he died only months before they planned to start the band so the rest of the members continued the project without him.

Not only is Tarkus a pretty bitchin' record, I laugh my ass off every time I look at the liner notes.

It's a picture story depicting the birth and evolution of Tarkus, from its hatching in the wake of 'Eruption' onto his reign as an embodied 'Iconoclast', to his confrontation with the frightful (and ridiculous looking) 'Manticore' and on to his emergence as the 'AQUATARKUS'.
