Spawning PF Cakes?

Got a quick question. I did a quick search about spawning PF cakes to straw/manure. Didn't really find too much. More precisely, I didn't find what I wanted. What I would like to know is, can I spawn a colonized BRF jar to hay/manure? I am going to try rye, but, I also want to try the PF tek just for the fuck of it. Suggestions? Thanks.

I make a pf cake but i use the alien substrate for spawn then i do a g to g transfer to more spawn, until i have enough to spawn to my 100 gallon custom grow chamber. I use coir/coffe/manure for my sub.

Sure you can directly spwan them to you buld substrate! As long as it's colonized it doesn't matter what spwan you use. The mushroom will find it's way, as long as the substrate is something he likes

yes it works fine ... i reccomend using a super sterile cheese grater to grate the cake and make more inoculation points ... makes it as effective as grain .. also , and this is just me , dont know about others . but i dont fuk around with washing it off or ne thing like that .. i go straight from jar after knocking the verm top off with no rinse .. verm side in palm as i grate .. messin with rinsing and faucets etc only leads to more contam risk as does the time to do it ! .. cheers

Hey, that's exactly how I started out. PF cakes to composted Hpoo. I have access to sterile latex gloves. I just dropped out the cake into my gloved hand broke it up into marble sized pieces and kneaded it into the compost. You really don't need sterile gloves though. You can drop the cake into a ziplock freezer bag and break it up inside the bag.

when you wanna spawn to anything with a cake, use a cheeze grater to do it, the big cut tho. because crumblng and all that is just wierd.
when yyou have mycelium cheese, you get so many spawn points.

If you own a food processor, that works well too. Just be careful not to over-process or you end up with putty.
Cheers!
