Think about it

We were born into this world. When we came out, the lot of us were nurtured by our parents. From them we learned what we know about the world around us.
However, what we learned from them is something that was taught to them by others before them and so on. To me this seems so damn subjective that how can someone come say such a thing as "christianity is the one true religion" and such.
Now think about it, when you were born, you weren't given an instruction manual. You weren't given a set of rules were you? Basically everything that you would deem right or wrong is based off of morals. You don't murder because that is morally wrong. However, there was no instruction or debriefing that told you that you cannot murder. Only that you know that this is morally unacceptable in our society. This applys to all things.
We were never given a set of guidelines. We were never given a set of rules. Never given an instructional packet. To me it seems we made our own set of rules and forced them upon others until those rules lasted for so long that they became the "norm" ( normal ).
To me, this world is a funhouse. Free will at it's finest. It seems "it" put us here and said "do with it what you will".
eh?

anyone who claims to be affiliated with a religion probably refers to their scripture i.e. the bible as a set of guidelines...

I've always had a hard time believing all thos aboriganees ( spell check ) in australia all went to hell prior to christianity finding them. It's absolutely absurd.
You get the idea what i'm talking about there.
My point is that, theres really no set of rules here but our own morals.

that's very interesting - though I don't necessarily agree with your conclusion. Yes, most of our ethics that we make decisions based off of are mostly from other people. But to some extent, I think we all have an inherent sense of right and wrong, or a conscience. I thinking killing a completely innocent person feels wrong not only because we've been raised to believe that, I think it also feels wrong because there is just something (objectively) wrong about it. In other words, if we look deep inside ourselves, in a way we do have a very basic "instruction manual" of some sort.

It's not that there's 'something' wrong with it. It is very simply that you also don't want to get hurt or murdered. That's all the moral behind that what was given to us by birth. And normally what would suffice. No supernatural imposed magic morals and no free will inventions out of thin air. Simple 'projection', sometimes called 'empathy'.
