in ohio, do your 90 year old neighbors fall asleep at the wheel while slowly running into the window of your living room at the pain-stakingly crushing speed of 4mph?
do alligators eat your pets while walking them?
has a hurricane ever demolished your house?
does your backyard ever catch fire because it hasn't rained in 90 days and it's 100 degrees out?
the list goes on...

It's pretty cool. Very small town atmosphere, which coming from ATL is awesome.
There's some rednecks, and then there's some hippies.
When mushrooms season starts, literally thousands of hippies descend upon the town to pick em. It's hilarious.

geokills said: I'm with ya, a total Oregonion fan. Hell half my family has went ex-Californian on me to settle down up there (including my two sisters and my own mother)! While the air is fresh, the scenery often tranquil, nature wildly abundant, and a quartet of pronounced seasons that tantilize the senses in an annual merry go round of varied atmospheric experience... there are some drawbacks.
For one, there are quite a few areas that are home for a number of methamphetamine abusers. Additionally, there are still pockets of strong racism. Between Ashland and Eugene, off of I-5, there was as recently as a couple of years ago (and perhaps still) a sign that read "Black People not Welcome". Now I'm not saying that this is indicative of the state at large, it is surely not. These situations will not break my resolve to visit or perhaps even live there someday, but I have friends of Asian dissent who do feel uncomfortable there.
At any rate, I do love Oregon.. so here's some pictures from there.

well put geo
and great pics!
but you can find the same negative things all over the country. in CA espesialy. there is a rather large white supremisist population in norther ca, specificly in laytenville (shit dumpville) my rv broke down there once and me and my freind had to walk the entire length of town 5 times in order to finnaly get the right part to the mechanic, each time we had to pass the layten ville KKK bulliten boeard.
also meth is just everywhere. the dense and unexplored areas of oregon to make it a hot bed for cooks and creeps of all sorts its true but still back in the bay i ahd jsut as many junkies and transients around, maybe not on my doorstep, but they where on somebodys doorstep

Where in this country *won't* you find meth abusers and racism?
Idaho?

oregonia...
winters are quite mild and summer really hot and dry. and it doesn't rain as much as you think it does. could use some more rain actually for longer mushroom seasons

I plan to live there in the next 3 years.

I've lived all over Oregon and the climate really changes throughout different areas. Like the dry high desert of Central Oregon (even though we have 3 feet of snow right now..) or the lush greens of the north near Washington... Not to mention we have some redwood forest here in Oregon too And one of the most beautiful coastlines in the States. (ooo, fungus season is insanity at the coast.)

Whoever was thinking oregon had few cops was probably thinking of Eugene. Eugene definitely has the least officers per capita in the state.
The obvious reason is we have a lot of hippies who don't like intrusive cops.
But the bigger reason is that the cops we do have are worthless fucking cockrots and rapists, so no one will let the city allocate much money to them til they get their act together.
