Colonization Process Questions

I recently pressure-cooked some cakes but when I pulled them out of the pressure cooker they seemed to look brown and/or burnt. I was curious as whether this would effect the process of colonization in those cakes. If so, is there a way of ensuring that they will colonize successfully?
also, how soon should I see mycelium form in the healthy cakes?
please respond as soon as possible. thank you in advance.

Pictures?
It can be a matter of several days before you see colonization.

I don't think it's going to be a problem for the mycelium. I've noticed the rice gets a little brown after I pc them I don't grind it up all the way.
I usually see growth in 3 - 5 days.

Hmmm. was it resting against the wall of the PC? You don't need to PC PF cakes, and it looks burnt, but unless it altered the water content, you might be fine.
given the low expense of BRF and verm against a spore syringe/print, you could just make new ones to be on the safe side.

did you run the pc out of water?
were they sitting directly on the bottom of the pc?
both these would cause your cakes to burn.

they weren't touching the wall of the PC. they were completely out of the water.
what is a safe temperature to keep the cakes at while colonization?

those cakes are def. burnt. i wouldnt use them. the mycelium will never begin to colonize them because there are no nutrients left.
what psi did you pc your cakes at? and for how long?

i have no idea what psi we cooked them at, but I'm sure we cooked them for too long.. i think 90 minutes 1 tutorial said to do it for 90 minutes, but i think we let the PC run dry.

there's your answer. 90 minutes is fine at 15 psi. but if you dont know what psi then
letting the pc run dry will def burn cakes

i still have 15 cakes which were boiled and seem to be fine. how many ounces are produced off of a single cake on average? I'm using PF classic, Creeper, Texas Goliad, and Mexi-Albino.

thanks for all your guys'es help. the pressure cooked ones have started to form mycelium. does this mean that they will grow mushrooms just fine? or is there a chance they will not grow any? thanks

Just be patient. let the cakes fully colonize and give them an extra couple days for the center to colonize as well. You have a very good chance of them fruiting, the only reason they shouldn't fruit would be contams, if you follow your tek and don't be impatient you should be fine.
Don't forget to dunk and roll.

you'll get a decent amount from 30 cakes if all goes well
