Colonization Process Questions
    #8007636 - 02/11/08 04:04 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I recently pressure-cooked some cakes but when I pulled them out of the pressure cooker they seemed to look brown and/or burnt. I was curious as whether this would effect the process of colonization in those cakes. If so, is there a way of ensuring that they will colonize successfully?

also, how soon should I see mycelium form in the healthy cakes?

please respond as soon as possible.
thank you in advance.

They look brown? (its BROWN rice flower) *grin*

Best thing you can do to ensure colonization is to give them what they would get anyways - an incubation chamber that has a steady temp- and in darkness (even though you do not need darkness for spawn to grow, but it helps)

If you managed to burn the BRF inside I give you kudos. If they are BURNED inside, yeah, that will effect your grow. IF they are just toasted on the outside, don't worry- it comes with the PC territory.

It can take up to 14 days to see any SIGNS of colonization- doesn't mean its not in progess sooner though.

Did you run it out of water? I ruined a cheap pc when I ran it out of water. 4 pint jars broke and the grain was burnt. Never do that again.
