Popular health "news" is not cutting-edge health information. I highly recommend that anyone who reads the articles posted on Mercola's site check up on the "scientific" citations listed after the articles. Often the citations refer to popular health books, non-scientific journal articles and unrelated scientific research.

Oh, please. Dismissing something because there's no "scientific evidence" to support it is the oldest trick in the book. I'm guessing you support the FDA on their stance that drugs like marijuana, mushrooms, and ibogaine have no scientific value.

I think that we would gain a great deal from scientific exploration of mind-altering substances. It is unfortunate that the moral agendas of a few dictate the limits of scientific research.

I think there's some moral agendas for food, too.

Probably. I'm really not interested in the moral issues surrounding food, drugs or medicine. What interests me is accurate information which furthers my goal of creating a health-oriented lifestyle. If the information is inaccurate, then acting on it may undermine my health. This is why I insist upon critically examining all health data which is presented as fact.
Once I have examined the data, and verified the sources, I apply the information to my own health practices & find out whether the data works in my "life lab." My health and longevity is VERY important to me, and there is a wealth of inaccurate health information out there. In order to sort out what has merit, it is necessary to use scientific methods of verification.

The bulk of Mercola's citations are not scientific, so they cannot be verified. He also often links to scientific studies which DO NOT support his assertions--this is dishonest and misleading.
