OK so lets say ya wanna make a bed for Cyan's, Fricosas, & Azures.
through reading beds should be roughly 2 feet wide 4 to 6 inches deep.
would lining the bottom with olde potting soil that had perlite in it sound good?
if the bed were 20 to 30 feet long and all three strains started on each end and then in the middle would the COMPETE ??????
SNUFF one or the other out?????
or ya think eventually it might matter but not in the immediate future
thanks

to answer the question. It shouldn't be a problem. The mushrooms will grow past the imaginary lines but they should mostly stay in the area you put them. You have three species that will colonize the same shit at the same speed. It isn't like one will run over another and take over the whole area. This might only happen for a few inches but it will happen in both directions.
I have seen a bed/frame made out of a 2x4 stud. 2 studs 2 feet apart with three section built into it. This was just placed on the ground near a fence that was covered in ivy. Each little frame has some grain spawn put into it right on top of the dirt and then covered with 3.5 inches of wood chips. it was watered a few times per week and when fall hit it fruited. each strain mostly stayed in its section besides where one grew over the top and colonized a few chips in one corner. it was obvious why/where it colonized. it didn't push the other one out. Mushrooms also grew out from under the frame in the dirt. The frame disintegrated after 3-4 seasons but fresh chips were added each season.

would do the frame thing but the yard cant look like a giant experiment LOLOLOLOL
prolly just dig down like 2-3 inches pitch that sod and soil then line with spent potting soil then cover with chips.
also thinking of finally putting in the auto sprinkler system in the ground while I'm out there digging away.
